This study compared and evaluated the effects of two interventions, mirror confrontation and guided imagery, on decreasing body image disturbance within three domains of body image (perceptual, attitudinal, and affective). Twenty-four college females (n = 48) were assigned to each group. Measures of body image were assessed prior to the intervention and post intervention.;Under the conditions of this study no difference in treatment effect, between the guided imagery group and mirror confrontation group, was found. Both groups were successful in decreasing the gap between current and ideal estimations of body image based on pre and post assessment, after exposure to either guided imagery or mirror confrontation. |
