Abstract/Summary:
This doctoral dissertation explores the questions: are there biblical principles of health and healing, and if so, what are they? This research investigates the Bible for principles of health, including the Genesis diet and Old Testament dietary laws, and their cultural relevance for today. Supporting documentation from the scientific community is also examined. The observations and conclusions are based on data gathered during ten two-hour diet and nutrition classes at the Hawkesbury Christian Centre, Windsor, New South Wales, Australia. To evaluate the effectiveness of the classes, the students completed surveys and evaluations to measure impact in knowledge of biblical principles of health and how their application of this knowledge changed their behaviour. Ten biblical principles of health and healing were identified and the findings confirmed significant positive short-term behavioural changes as a result of the classes. The dissertation will become the basis of a training workbook for Australian nationals in matters of biblically based health and healing.
