Abstract/Summary:
Building construction is delivered in a variety of organizational formats. Building construction requires the resources of money, personnel, materials, machinery, information and management decisions and orders. Currently the term information in construction is not clearly defined and no conceptual models exist for understanding how information is handled in a construction project organization.;This research presents a clear definition of construction information and applies a conceptual model to the flow of information in construction. Through case study research and interviews the proposed conceptual model was found to accurately represent the behavior of construction organizations in handling information.;By applying the model the ideal performance or productivity of a white collar organization is predicted and compared to the actual performance of subject organizations. Conclusions are drawn about the operation of the organizations.
