Abstract/Summary:
In 2011 in the State of California, Assembly Bill 109 was signed discontinuing low level offenders from returning to state prisons for non-violent offenses. As a result of this assembly bill, counties took over the responsibility of supervising offenders being released from prison as well as offenders being placed on county probation. Each county was required to provide services to AB 109 offenders to assist in their reintegration back into the community. This research study focused on male AB 109 offenders' opinion of the services they were receiving at Adult Day Reporting Centers, and how the services contributed to fewer law enforcement contacts. For the purpose of this research study a questionnaire was designed to assess their opinion of the AB 109 services they were receiving. They were also provided a self-efficacy scale to assess their opinion of level self-efficacy since receiving services. The findings of this research study revealed that participants that have been receiving services longer had fewer arrests. The study also revealed that participants reported an overall satisfaction with the services they were receiving at the Adult Day Reporting Centers.
