Factors associated with research and publication productivity of library and information studies' faculty in Saudi-Arabian universities

Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between individual factors, reinforcement factor, departmental factors, and institutional factors, to the research and publication productivity levels of LIS faculty members in Saudi Arabian universities. Personal interviews and questionnaires were used to gather data from 56 LIS faculty members and four Deans of the Deanship of Scientific Research. The study found that the factors affecting the research and publication productivity levels of LIS faculty members at Saudi Arabian universities are the following: age, marital status, years of experience as a faculty member, academic rank, workload, perception of rewards, and finally, perception of resources adequacy and availability.
