| The purpose of this Meta analysis was to investigate the relationship between sports related concussions occurring in American football and the cognitive functioning of the concussed athlete. For the past two decades there has been a growing interest in the cognitive well being of athletes receiving concussion in sports such as soccer, boxing, wrestling, and football. This paper contains a brief history of American football and the evolution of the concussion as a risk concern within the game. A Meta analysis was conducted to confirm this relationship between sports related concussions and cognitive functioning. |
