| This dissertation concerns the benefits of fuzzy logic in new routing algorithms to improve connection quality in wireless networks. A fuzzy logic wireless multipath routing algorithm (FLWMR) is a new approach that will increase the reliability and quality of sending important (high priority) traffic no matter what the network status is. Also, it improves delivering the high priority traffics in high mobility networks. FLWMR uses adaptable routing algorithms to drive messages over multiple routes with maximally disjoint paths to the destination. Based on the precedence of the message and the network's status, fuzzy logic routing decisions are made, whether to send the message over zero routes (not to send) one route, or more routes (multipath).; Also, a fuzzy logic wireless load aware multipath routing (FLWLAMR) algorithm is proposed to improve the mobile networks connectivity. FLWLAMR uses the load of the intermediate nodes to build the maximally disjoint routes instead of shortest distance to avoid building routes with congested links. A good routing protocol should minimize the computing load on the host as well as the traffic overhead on the network.; The performance of the new routing algorithms is evaluated using simulation, and compared to existing wireless routing protocols. |
