Abstract/Summary:
Pyrite (FeS;Cyclic-voltammetry in aqueous solution revealed reversible surface processes which are associated with the electroadsorption/electrodesorption of H;Photoelectrochemical studies on synthetic n-FeS;The kinetics of electrochemical reduction of ferric and ferricyanide ions on dark natural pyrite were investigated using rotating disk electrodes. Saturation of the reduction current with ion concentration and rotation speed was observed. It was concluded that electron transfer from the conduction band of pyrite to these oxidants is mediated by band gap surface states, presumably originating from the electroadsorption of aqueous species on pyrite surface.
