Abstract/Summary:
The researcher explored the effects of implementing relaxation techniques to decrease stress among Protestant religious leaders. The surveys consisted of the Perceived Stress Scale, Relaxation Scale, and interview questions. Using a mixed-model ANOVA, the results indicated that the treatment group scored significantly higher than the comparison group on their pre --posttest muscle tension and emotional well-being scores. There was not a significant difference between the interpersonal relationship scores. In addition, the treatment group scored lower than the comparison group on their stress scores. The treatment group scored higher than the comparison group on their relaxation scores. A content analysis was performed on the interview questions and the results indicated that the relaxation techniques had a positive impact on muscle tension, emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships of the religious leaders.
