Abstract/Summary:
Chestnut, lilac, privet, spirea, white weeping oak and 5-leaf aralia were tested. Optimum bud break was obtained by soaking the basal 1/3 of dormant stems either in 10% bleach solution or in 75% ethanol solution for 15 minutes. Bleach or ethanol soaks exerted negative effects on bud break for spirea, but hastened bud break for lilac and privet.
