Abstract/Summary:
s we look ahead to attempts to genetically engineer the amino acid profile of rice, it is more appropriate to break down rice endosperm proteins in terms of families of related proteins. From the viewpoint of evolution, "family" means a group of proteins that are presumed to have diverged from a common ancestral protein. Four protein families, glutelin, ;Sequence information on a cDNA clone encoding a rice LMW-globulin was presented and evolution relationship to other proteins discussed.
