Abstract/Summary:
The goal of this study was to examine the effects of varying degrees of authenticity of Spanish videotapes and audiotapes on student listening comprehension. Data were collected to determine whether watching authentic videotapes resulted in better listening comprehension than having students watch less-authentic video materials or audio materials only. The effects of increasing the amount of video and audio exposure on student performance in listening were also examined. The results obtained were not significant and the conclusion suggests that further research of the question is necessary.
