Abstract/Summary:
This study is a history of the General Activities Committee of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which functioned from 1977 to 1986. Interviews, handbooks, manuals, history books, letters and files were utilized in compiling this study, which covers all divisions of the Committee: communication, dance, drama, recreational music, sports (men's and women's), camp, physical fitness, and recreation. This study examined the organization, stewardship, and accomplishments of the Committee during its tenure.;This study of the General Activities Committee was recorded because throughout the history of the Church there has been great emphasis on the development of talents and skills plus provision for wholesome cultural and physical activities for members of the Church. This study could be a useful resource to leaders in the Church in the administration of activities for its members.;Perhaps the most significant contributions of this Committee were: (1) published resources, (2) workshops, and (3) production of models for local leaders.
