| It is estimated that 20% of Americans suffer with a mood disorder and only half will seek treatment (Satcher, 2000). Mood disorders are among the most prevalent mental health issues today; yet there are many approaches which can be used to manage these disorders besides medication. Psychotherapy has been one of the most widely used therapies. Now, we have access to more creative ways of helping people who suffer with mood disorders. Art therapy is one method therapists can use to help their clients understand the underlying cause of their disorder and help facilitate positive relief from symptoms. This research focused on the effects of art therapy on mood states. |
