Abstract/Summary:
In this work, a new type of liquid crystal power saving display--optically rewritable E-Paper was developed and implemented to explain a large number of experimental data. For a LC display device, like e-paper, the response time plays a crucial role. We use four methods to increase the rewriting speed of ORW E-Paper. The key parameter is K22 for static result which affects the azimuthal anchoring energy. And effective rotational viscosity gamma*1. is very important for the dynamic result, we increase the rewriting time by 4 times by applying electric field across the liquid crystal cell, i.e., decrease the effective rotational viscosity gamma*1. In order to treat ORW E-Paper the same as real paper in the manner of bending. We need to keep the cell gap insensitive to pressure, hitting or bending. We introduced two new methods for producing plastic ORW E-paper which can tolerate bending, pressure and hitting was introduced. The underlining principle is the random or regular and sticky spacers. 3D display technology is now becoming a new tendency of electronic products. In this article, we attempted to combine the stereoscopic 3D display technology with our technology of ORW E-paper which is operated by optically rewritable alignment technology.;Tunable grating is one of the important tools for many applications that have been well documented and several fabricating strategies have been proposed. We present an ORW grating based on PA and TN alignment domains, where the periodic distribution of the index to create the diffractive structure can be written, erased and re-written for different period and direction and further can be tuned by blue light for diffractive and non-diffractive states.;ORW E-Paper surface with a layer of the color polarizing film may be achieved non-monochrome display mode, but only with one color. Now we will introduce two ways to achieve a full color ORW E-Paper. Full color ORW E-Paper works similar as the ordinary liquid crystal display (LCD). Color triangle can be 21% NTSC.
