| Many school officials have felt public pressure to incorporate computer education into the curriculum. Some teachers are computer "accepters;" other teachers are computer "resisters." The purpose of the study was to identify characteristics of computer "accepters" to enhance the possibility of successful computer implementation within a district. The study sample consisted of 293 educators enrolled in graduate courses. Two test instruments, the Computer Usage Questionnaire and the Rokeach Dogmatism Scale, measured the relationship between the criterion variable of "acceptance" and 15 predictor variables. Logistic regression was used to analyze the data showing the following predictor variables as having a significant relationship (p =.05) to computer acceptance: (1) computer anxiety, (2) computer confidence, (3) computer knowledge and skills, (4) accessibility to computer hardware, (5) "hands-on" experience, (6) frequency of computer use, and (7) duration of computer use. |
