| In today's globalizing world, many organizations have taken advantage of information technology as an effective operational strategy. The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is no exception. Little attention is often placed on the influence of leadership style in the process of IT adoption. This study sought to find the relationship between leadership style and IT adoption. It used the theoretical framework of popular technology adoption model and transformational leadership style as a better combination for managing technology adoption. It therefore measured both the leadership style and level of compliance with information technology models using the MLQ5X and TAM/TTF. The study found the prevalent leadership style in the MFA as essentially transactional; it, however, found no relationship between leadership style and adoption of information technology in IT adoption process of the MFA. The study found training and funding as major set-backs in introducing IT for work process in the MFA. It therefore recommended to the MFA authority to train its staff and seek better funding for its information technology program. It also reiterates the need for leaders to be able to deploy both transformational and transactional leadership attributes as situation demands. |
