With the rapid development of economy in China, the air pollution is getting more and more critical. Museums that are located in the pollution of all aspects, it is not optimistic for us to view its air quality. The deterioration of air quality not only increasingly damages cultural objects, and also enables people to concentrate more on the protection of collectibles during the process of display in museums. Due to the restrictions from management technique, monitoring technology and economic conditions, etc, in-door contaminated gases of museums, such as NOx?SO2?O3, and TSP pollution are still very serious. In addition, with the development of modern industries, materials'scope that can be selected by the museum to manufacture ornament cabinets of display like wood, plastics, textile, painting, adhesives, macromolecule material and composite material, etc are becoming much larger. Such materials for the application of display and ornament can degrade and release all kinds of volatile components in a slower pace. While in the closed showcases and storerooms, the concentration of such compounds will increase constantly, and will accelerate the corrosion of all kind of metal cultural relics. In order to control this risk from the source, the screening and evaluation of the materials that are used in the museum is of great necessity.Oddy Test is a kind of metal accelerate corrosion experiment, and it is widely used in the evaluation of applicability of holding materials of museums. However, its test period is comparatively long, and screens out the result based on the subjective judgment. This essay represents a new method:optimize and establish a set of new technique that is suitable for the promotion of application of evaluating holding materials of museums in China, with the methods of modern coating technology, computer digital image acquisition and processing technology, as well as modem characterization technique. Finally, launch a kind of screening and evaluation method and standard for the holding materials of the museum characterized by rapidness, correctness and objectivity. The research results are stated as follows: (1) Utilize the modern vacuum evaporate plating coating technology to make standard Ag?Cu film material specimens. Take advantage of the high activity and evident corrosion phenomenon of the surface of Ag?Cu film material specimens to replace traditional metal Ag?Cu specimens in bulk. Improve Oddy measurement and significantly shorten the evaluation time of the synthetic influences to cultural objectives from pollutants from previous 28 days to 14 days.(2) It has been developed the analysis software that focuses on the judgment of corrosion degree of images of metal film specimens and computer grading evaluation system of corrosion spool. Use the results of K-means clustering image segmentation algorithm and traditional Oddy measurement to make grading standards of holding materials to realize the datamation of corrosion results so as to achieve the target of rapid and objective evaluation. Thus achieve the purposes of simplified operation, shortening the evaluation time and improving correctness. Complete the evaluation and screening of seven categories,16 subclasses and total over 100 kinds of materials that include the composite board, natural timber, textile, packing material, plastics, rubber as well as paint. The materials mentions above have already pass the evaluation of metal film test method, and their results are in accordance with those from Parallel Test over 90%, and the acquired results are in accordance with those from Oddy measurement above 70%.(3) Estimate the pollutants'components in the process of volatilization and degradation of Cu?Ag film specimens and holding materials with assistant of SEM, FTIR-White Cell, XPS, SPME and GC/MS etc. Prove the volatile and degrading matters within the holding materials corrode Cu?Ag and Pb as well as their corrosion principles. Further explore the mechanism from the corrosion to Cu?Ag film specimens. Summarize the above three improvements, on the basis of Oddy measurement, this essay put forward a complete set of metal film test method that is applicable for the screening and evaluation of holding materials in the museum.
