Environment·Livelihood·Disease ——Schistosomiasis Prevalence In Yunnan Province And Farming Society In Endemic Areas

Schistosomiasis is one of the most prevalent natural foci in the world,which seriously affects human physical and mental health as well as social development.This paper collects historical documents,archives and field data extensively,taking the schistosomiasis endemic area as the center,focuses on environment,livelihoods and diseases,and based on combing the history of schistosomiasis Epidemiology,Discovery History and prevention and cure of Yunnan Province.Given that,the relationship between the ecological system and the epidemic of the whole epidemic area including the natural ecological environment and the social ecological environment was investigated.It is believed that schistosomiasis,human and environment constitute the ecological system of schistosomiasis endemic areas in Yunnan,and the ecological factors in the system are influenced and interacting with each other in a certain ecological threshold space.The spatial distribution of foci,settlements,disease epidemics and farm lands in schistosomiasis endemic areas is closely related to the regional natural ecological environment,which is positively correlated with the pathogen of schistosomiasis,the habitat of Middle host and the suitability of terminal host.Influenced by natural ecological environment,the distribution of schistosomiasis susceptible and farming areas in Yunnan schistosomiasis endemic area is basically coincident,and the change of livelihood mode affects the epidemic prevalence of schistosomiasis,especially rice farming and livestock breeding,which is closely related to the epidemic of schistosomiasis,and the adjustment of industrial structure since the 1980 s,the evolution of animal husbandry in rural areas and the popularization of agricultural machinery affect the ecological environment and schistosomiasis outbreaks and control.Schistosomiasis is also a local disease,with regional constraints and cultural constraints,the population's livelihood strategy,social system,cognitive coping,ritual customs,ideas and so on with the epidemic areas of the environment,disease epidemic is closely related,People's livelihood customs in Yunnan schistosomiasis endemic area make the prevalence of schistosomiasis varying from differences of groups,gender,and geographic.At the same time,the disease cognition and coping of different groups in epidemic areas experienced linear development and were used in epidemic area environment and disease.Under the ecological view,in order to keep the ecosystem balance in schistosomiasis endemic area as the aim,it is important to objectively examine the relationship between environment,livelihood and disease and the historical changes,which is of great practical significance to the prevention and control of schistosomiasis,the adjustment of agricultural industrial structure and the renovation of rural environment.
