Study On The Artistic Style Of Ming-style Furniture

Ming-style furniture originated from Song Dynasty,formed and developed in midMing Dynasty and early-Qing Dynasty.Ming-style furniture has reached the acme of Chinese traditional furniture,which also plays a significant place in the history of furniture of the world.The artistic style of Ming-style furniture is studied from the viewpoints of history,archaeology,art and cultural appreciation,in order to reveal the origin and cultural genes of Ming-style furniture,and to explore the inspiration from Ming-style furniture to use in the design of furniture.The main innovative work is as follows:1.The change of lifestyle before Ming-style furniture was studied to reveal the deep historical and cultural background of Ming-style furniture.The study focuses on the critical period from sitting on the mat to sitting on the high seat,and put forward that the main factors that make the process change are the influence of the nomadic people in the north and the influence of the communication of ancient India Buddhism.Furthermore,three transformation of Chinese furnishings center is put forward,which is from mat to bed,then to table and chair.Ming-style furniture is formed under the background of table and chair as indoor furnishing center.The origin of chairs is also studied,which reveal the origin of JIAOWU,the formation of chairs,and the similarities and differences between beds and TA.2.The formation process and causes of Ming-style furniture is analyzed based on three stages of the early phase,development and evolution,from the viewpoint of archaeology and art history.It is pointed that the after the complete development of structure,shape and function of furniture in Song Dynasty,the furniture of early-Ming Dynasty has already met the requirement of Ming-style furniture,which is still wrapped in the rich and complex paint.The silver substitute service system,the rise of literati and the use of planes promote the formation of Ming-style furniture.3.The artistic style of Ming-style furniture is studied and analyzed on the basic of entity level and spiritual level from the viewpoint of art and design.(1)On the shape,two basic forms of Ming-style furniture,which is beam and column furniture and SHUYAO furniture;furthermore,the transformation of the basic forms and the form characteristics is summarized.(2)On the structure,the vertical and transverse support structure is put forward,between which is the YAZI and CHENGZI to reinforce.(3)On the material,Ming-style furniture uses native wood and attaches importance to wood texture,which displayed the ancient Chinese craftsman's simple conception of nature.(4)On the function,the political and social functions are the first and most important function.Secondly,it will consider health and comfort.Ming-style pays more attention to healthy comfort.4.From the perspective of design,through the analysis of the trend of design in the world,the design concept of Design Datong is proposed for the first time,which means the global design style tends to multicomponent consensus.The ways of the development of Ming-style furniture are put forward: inheritance and innovation.Combined with the author's own design works and other design works,the way to inheritance and innovation is studied from the perspective of shape,structure and material.
