Research On Architectural Schema Theory And “Local Practice Schema” From The Perspective Of Schema Representation

The "Schema Theory" is one of the most important concepts in Kant's critical philosophy.This philosophy expounds the formation mechanism of human thinking from the perspective of epistemology and has a major impact on the development of many fields including architecture.In addition,architectural drawing is the key medium in the process of carring out the architectural design thinking,and has a significant position in the architectural creation.The thesis is based on the related theories such as philosophy,psychology and visual perception,and takes the discussion of “schema reappearance” as the starting point.Through the reconstruction analysis and retrospective combing of architectural patterns in historical development,the author use drawing and painting as the medium to analyze the “thinking pattern” in architecture,and explore the formation,the development and the mechanism of action in the process of architectural design.The paper aims to sum up and propose a set of "local-practical schema" designing ideas and provide a theoretical reference for contemporary architectural creation,by using this theory to analyze the decades of practice of LOCAL STUDIO and speculating on the regional architectural thought ?The thesis are divided into two parts with seven chapters.The first part is the "theoretical basis",including three chapters(2 ? 3 ? 4),mainly discussing the theoretical basis,reconstruction mechanism,historical development of schema reappearance,and the summary of the connotation of architectural schema theory.The second part is the "practical analysis",including the last four chapters(5?6?7?8).In this part,the author proposes the designing idea of "local-practical schema",which will be interpreted from three levels of "regional type","geographical terrain" and "place semantics",on the basis of the critical discussion of the theory of regional architecture from the perspective of schema.The second chapter in PART ONE mainly gives a basic explanation of “schema reappearance ” from three aspects: the theoretical basis of the schema,the reappearance mechanism of the schema,and the reappearance medium of the schema.By studying the related research of schema theory,the author find the schema clues in the building,and establish a study mechanism based on the relationship between“architectural schema” and “architectural graph” through the discussion of“reappearance”,thus establishing the goal and approaches of this research.In Chapter three,the author aims to trace the history and the visual field of schema to analyze and summarize the reappearance of the development of architectural thinking schema,on the basis of the research of the reconstruction mechanism of the architectural pattern in the prev ious chapter.Meanwhile,when studying and realizing the relationship between “reappearance medium” and the“thinking subject” of the schema,the author discovered a cognitive clue which has been used to divide the whole historical process into four st ages: the original blind period of schema reappearance,the comprehensive development period of schema reappearance,the abstract separation period of schema reappearance,and the present condition of schema reappearance,so the author can give an elaborat e analysis.On the basis of researches in the last two chapters,the fourth chapter discusses and summarizes the connotation,attributes and development characteristics of architectural schemas.The main object of the article is to examine architectural disciplines and their design thinking patterns from the perspective of architectural graphics in term of analysis of the internality,externality and driving mechanism of architectural thinking schema.The fifth chapter in PART TWO is a connecting link betwe en the preceding and the following.As theoretical tools,the conclusions obtained in the previous article are used to study the relevant theories of regional architectural thoughts.In this part,the author analyze the architectural critical schema of "c ritical regionalism" and establish a value cognition system about the "modernity" and "regionalism" of architecture in the context of the post-war period where diversified architectural thoughts exploded and take the architectural creation in Hunan's regio nal environment as an example to construct a “contemporary local practice schema ”.From the Chapter six,the thesis begins with the discussion of the “local practice schema” from three levels.This chapter focuses on the architectural creation method of “regional type schema” whose core theory is architectural typology,formed by local studios in the face of local humanistic environment and tradition.This method is to seek the morphological traits of the type of geographical universality-the prototype and emphasize that the geographical type is the adaptive result of the natural climate and living customs and pay attention to the modern adaptability of the geographical type.In the seventh chapter,the author expands on the architectural creation me thod of“regional topographic schema” from the core theory--architectural typology,formed by local studios in the face of local natural topography and other natural environments.This method try to reconcile the relationship between architectural space shape and natural environment texture in a kind of mimetic and flexible adaptability:conforming to the environmental topography and micro-topography,using the fractal geometry principle to sort out its morphological logic,and interpreting the aesthetic basis of the symbiosis between architecture and landscape.The discussion of “place semantic schema” described in Chapter eight is based on the practice of “regional type schema” and “regional topographic schema”.From the perspective of "Architectural Phenomenology",this chapter focuses on how to manipulate and project spatial patterns in architectural creation,giving the building a specific spatial meaning and place atmosphere to shape the local spiritual and cultural identity of the building.The whole thesis carries out an in-depth exploration,with the research from“theoretical schema reappearance “to “practical schema reappearance”,step by step.From the longitudinal analysis of the theoretical speculation and the comparison of the horizontal correlation of historical cases,to the theoretical application and concrete practice,the author discussed the mechanism of the “schema” in the architectural designing process,revealing the internal reason of constraining or inspiring the architectural creativity.The study of "schema" puts those factors which cannot be synchronously investigated with traditional research approaches such as transcendentalism and empiricism,objectivity and subjectivity,internalism and externalism,as well as rationalism and irrationalism in the same context,and thus give an effective and comprehensive review of architectural creations.Under the background of contemporary globalization,this thesis provides critical thinking and theoretical guidance for the architectural producation with the goal of achieving architectural diversity.
