She is an ethnic group with special cultural characteristics in southeast China. The formation of She was the result of the development of ethnic history, and also the result of subjective ethnic identity of f "She " ethnic group and the construction of "She" ethnic group by "The other" in the cultural context of Han ethnic group.Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, the ecological boundary and ethnic conflict in the southeast of China had become more and more prominent with the acceleration of the sinicization. As ethnic appellation,"She" first appeared in Zhangzhou,Chaozhou and other places where the boundaries between "She" and Han had been brought into being in the Southern Song Dynasty. As a cultural label for distinguishing the ethnic groups,"She" was used to address the non-Han population in the relatively backward area in economy and culture under the influence of "cultural center theory" in the mainstream culture circle."She" began boarded the stage of history as a special ethnic group in the Southern China area.It was not only the product of the social definition of the South non-Han population in the view of the Chinese Centern, but also the result of self culture identification of the non-Han population in the Southern China area. The ethnic boundaries of "She" and Han often drift dued to ecological, economic, political and other factors. It often happened that"She" people become Bianhu Qimin through getting the editions of books, and Han people become "She" people through getting into the "cave" and escaping registration from State organs in history.Cultural identity played an important role in the flow process of ethnic boundaries. In the Song and Yuan Dynasties, frequent outbreaks of social unrest lead to the emergence of "She Kou"," She Jun" extensively in the literature, which was a continuation of the ethnic classification on the civilization/savagery and citizens(Min)/non-citizens(Dao).At this time,"She" was a political or cultural identity rather than criteria for differentiation of blood. After the middle period of Ming Dynasty,as the social unrest of She people in the area of Fujian,Guangdong,Jiangxi Province was put down successfully by Wang Yangming, more and more "She" people had been involved in naturalization and Confucianization in the process of sinicization. It is not immigration but movemen of "She" and Han ethnic boundaries that caused the decline of "She" population.Since the middle of the Ming dynasty,"She" and Hakka ethnic group who had a close symbiotic relationship gradually separated because of the different cultural orientation of ethnic groups. It was the result of ethnic division that the original settlements "She" people changed into the Hakka residential district.Japanese pirates harassment activities(Wo Luan)and boundary-Moving(Qian Jie)during the Ming and Qing dynasties provided a good historical opportunity for the formation of "She" society. The contradictions between aboriginal and immigrant have become increasingly prominent because of resource competition in Fujian Zhejiang Jiangxi border region where the ethnic identity of "She" people was enhanced.some of "She" people mintained or diluted the ethnic boundaries through constructing the history of ethnic groups for the survival and development of ethnic groups. In the modern times, the state power has become an important force to influence the boundary of ethnic groups. The ethnic boundary is still the best window to observe and understand the relationship between ethnic groups.even in the context of the global integration and cultural diversity.
