A Collation Study Of Ruan's "Commentary On Gongyang Chuan" And "Commentary On Guliang Chuan"

Since Notes and Examinations of the Thirteen Classics Attached by Collations was published by Ruan Yuan in the early twenties in Jiaqing Dynasty,kinds of literal mistakes were found.Though many efforts were made by Daoguang Dynasty edition and other editions of Jiangxi Publishing House,Dianshizhai Publishing House,Maiwangxianguan Publishing House,Xiuhaishanfang publishing hous Jingzhang Publishing House,World Publishing House,China Publishing House,Peking University Publishing House,lots of mistakes were ignored and even added.Ruan Yuan didn't think the first Nanchang edition as a reliable edition,and many improvements were made by the following editions.Nevertheless,they didn't tell out where they changed and what proofs they had.According to a thousand or so collations,there was a mistake in some pages or mistakes in a page.Each edition wasn't very good or very bad.Recurring to the ways of collation,this dissertation sticks to the differences between varies editions of Gongyang Paragraphs and Guliang Paragraphs in the Thirteen Classics of Ruan Yuan's system.The dissertation gets the most differences by comparing the first Nanchang edition with the later Ruan's editions,and then turns to the other editions,Gongyang Paragraphs and Guliang Paragraphs published in Song Dynasty mended in Yuan Dynasty of Chinese duplicated reliable edition and other documents.The dissertation devotes itself to the differences between editions,and concerns where could be wrong,and makes judgments after checking the editions and other documents.Format difference was found in collation.If the improvements and added mistakes in each edition were ignored,Ruan Yuan's edition system could be classified in two sub-systems.One is Nanchang sub-system,including the first Jiajing edition,Jiangxi Publishing House edition,Dianshizhai Publishing House edition,Maiwangxianguan Publishing House edition,Xiuhaishanfang Publishing House edition,Jingzhang Publishing House edition,Peking University Publishing House edition,the other is Daoguang sub-system,including Daoguang edition,World Publishing House edition,China Publishing House edition.There were two main types of differences between editions.One is the same meaning with different characters,such as variant form and ancient and modern characters,including some characters which different original meanings weren't distinguished.One is form errors which could make great mistakes.There were some other types of mistakes as well.
