During the late Qing Dynasty to the establishment of the Republic of China,a large number of Chinese from Fujian and Guangdong migrated to British Malaya.The reasons for this influx into British Malaya was due to the attacks from bandits on their hometown,threatening their lives and looting their properties.As these civilians lived near the coastal areas,it was very easy for them to travel to British Malaya where there was a great demand for workers in mining and agricultural sectors.This research studies on these Yongchun people from Fujian and their developments and establishments in Malaysia.The Yongchun people brought along with them,their occupations and culture to Malaysia.Those who came from the cities were businessmen while those from the rural areas of China were mostly farmers.Though they have migrated to British Malaya,many still established ties with their kins in China.To maintain their culture and traditions,they formed the Yongchun Communities where the spirit of hardship and thriftiness were practiced.They also interested in the social construction of schools and cemeteries.They integrated with the Fujian community and strengthen the use of Fujian dialect in their social interactions.Yongchun Communities,Family Associations,Taoyuan Clubs,and Cemeteries are the social establishments of the Yongchun people.The Yongchun people in various locations are united through these establishments.There were very little interactions among the Yongchun Communities at various parts in British Malaya until early 20th century,where the event of the worsening social security environment in Yongchun,China,did the people of the Yongchun communities were integrated in Malaya to launched a rescue campaign for Yongchun people in China.During the Japanese aggression in China,the Yongchun people in British Malaya set off a wave of support for the motherland in a campaign against the Japanese National Salvation movement.Leaders of the various Yongchun communities participated in the campaign.The Yong chun people in Muar,British Malaya were more capable of alleviating the national debt in China to save the country.Twenty-two Yongchun associations united all the Yongchun communities in Malaya and established the Malayan Yongchun Federation during the independency of Malaya.In 1993,the world Yongchun Federation acknowledged the establishments of the global Yongchun Federations.From the immigration to the establishment of the Malaya Yongchun Federation,developments and participants were felt in care for the ancestral homeland on various occasions including the Sun Yat Sen revolution movement,China anti-Japanese National salvation movement and the investment of social establishments in Yongchun townships in China.After the independency of Malaya,Yongchun people has recognised Malaya with their many establishment social contributions;this ended Yongchun people to become the Malaya's Yongchun people.
