"Chinese School" animation which is created by Chinese artists in the specific time and gains high recognition worldwide,has a unique national style.Its story content is derived from the profound Chinese culture,reflects the idea to explore the path of national art,and has a distinctive Chinese artistic expression language.It not only reveals the status of Chinese animations in the "history" of past,but also provides a clear insight into future direction.This article studies the "Chinese School" animation from the perspective of "history".The main research focuses is a series of Chinese animations with distinctive ethnic style: which created by Shanghai animation Film Studio during the late 1950 s to the late 1980 s,from which the representative artists are Te Wei,"Wan Brothers",Jin Xi and others.Moreover,the Chinese animations with same style from other periods will contribute to the extended research.This study introduces creation theory,work composition theory and art acceptance theory,references the theories from other related disciplines such as psychology and communication,supplements oral history and interview data,and uses image analysis,comparative research,element analysis and comparative induction in order to conduct a comprehensive study on "Chinese School" animation.Through the analysis of the "Chinese School" animation creation ideas,creative teams,animation works,and acceptance groups,the basic mode of production and operation of the "Chinese School" animation that has emerged since the early days of the founding of New China was examined.The internal driving force and external boosting force to the rapid rise of the "Chinese School" animation was studied under the specific historical and cultural background.Futhermore,the great success are expected to provide lessons for the development of Chinese animation in the new era.This research is divided into six parts.The first part reviews the "Chinese School" animation from a historical perspective of.It traces back the development process of the rise,formation,climax and decline of the animation of the "Chinese School",and distinguishes the causes,characteristics and performance of the two climaxes of "Chinese School" animation,and analyzes the creation of the author and their works in the " world " theory from Abrams.The second part studies the creative subject.The main creators of the "Chinese School" animation are divided into three parts: screenwriter,director,and painter.From the research and analysis of the roles,creative concepts,and psychological characteristics of the three-main creators in the corresponding creative groups,and the artistic nature of their presentation,Importance,we can see the generalities and specialities the creative subject holds in the "Chinese School" animation.The third part is the research on the animation creation process of "Chinese School".From the psychological research,process research and method research of the creative subject,analyzes are conducted on the psychological characteristics and mechanism of the creative subject,as well as the motivation,conception and how three-stages artistic expression in expresses the spirit and entity of the animation,and futher on the expression methods of animation realism and romanticism,realism and fiction.The fourth part is mainly about the study of animation works of "Chinese School".This section analyzes the composition,story prototype,artistic image,and style characteristics of the animation of the "Chinese School",discusses its artistic characteristics and its interaction with the major animation schools of the contemporary world.The fifth part studies the audience of "Chinese School" animation.Based on the analysis of the expected audience,actual audience and potential audience of the "Chinese School" animation,through the acceptance psychology of different audiences and the way of interpretation of the audience,the role and influence of the "Chinese School" animation audience in the communication process are discussed.The sixth part researches the animation production operation mode of "Chinese School" and its influence.These topics are discussed from the perspective of the upper-level planning of animation production of the "Chinese School",the efforts of the creative subject,and the output of high-quality works.Introspection on the self-construction and identification of the development of Chinese animation,the difficulties in exploration and multi-dimensional breakthrough of Chinese animation is proceeded.According to the research on the background,creation subject,creation process,animation works,and audience of the animation of the "Chinese School",this article points out that the great achievements of the animation of the "Chinese School" during the late 1950 s to the late 1980 s,are due to its special production operation mode.Specifically,the animation of the "Chinese School",which grew up in a specific social and historical context in China,has formed a set of mature and stable mechanism.The mechanism has built a top-level design with national literary and artistic ideas.It is supported by national financial appropriations and professional cooperation teams,delivers high-quality works and targets children and children as the main audience with upper-level planning,system guarantees,and professionalism.A top-down,interactive "pyramid model" of organization with clear goals,tremendous results,and broad public basis was founded.After comprehensively examininge the successful experience of the "Chinese School" Animation,exploreing the inherent laws of its development,and its shortcomings Chinese animation can be enlightened to establish national confidence in the fierce cultural and commercial competition in the world,especially under the background of contemporary multiculturalism and new technological environment,"Chinese school" animation will be able to tell better Chinese stories and spread Chinese excellent culture sustainably.
