Semantic Attributes And Functions Of The Connectives Of “Buran” Category In Modern Chinese

There are few morphological changes in modern Chinese.Function words play a very important role in modern Chinese grammar system.The comparative study of some function words is a hot topic in linguistics,Chinese teaching and lexicography.This dissertation regards the connectives of “Buran” category as the research objects.Most of the existing researches on the connectives of “Buran” category start from the form,which conceals the special attributes of “Buran” category.Based on this,this dissertation,from the semantic standpoint,makes a systematic and in-depth analysis of “Buran” category by comprehensively using the relevant theories of event semantics and cognitive semantics,investigates the semantic characteristics of“Buran” category from a logical point of view,probes into the similarities and differences of the members of “Buran” category,summarizes the application of“Buran” category in discourse,and analyzes and explains the discourse formation and selection mechanism of “Buran” category from the perspective of communication.The overall standpoint and semantic research direction that we choose reflect the innovation of this dissertation.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the dissertation is divided into five chapters:The introduction introduces the research background and research issues,and identifies eight members of “Buran” category as the research objects.Then it discusses the value of the research from the theoretical and practical aspects,and explains the overall path,research methods and corpus sources of the research.Finally,it expounds the language view.Chapter 1 is about literature review.This chapter makes a detailed review of the researches related to “Buran” category,summarizes the research status from the aspects of the diachronic evolution of “Buran” category,the formal structure of“Buran” category,the function of “Buran” category and the logic research of “Buran”category,and points out the problems in the existing researches.Chapter 2 is about the logic semantic characteristics of “Buran” category.This chapter first discusses the semantic essence of “Buran” category from a logical point of view,that is,representing logical reasoning structure,and “Buran” category can represent hypothetical reasoning and disjunctive reasoning.Then it focuses on the semantic structure of two types of reasoning represented by “Buran” category.The semantic structure of hypothetical reasoning includes conditional event,result event,negative conditional event and negative result event.The semantic structure of disjunctive reasoning includes optional event 1,optional event 2,negative optional event 1(or 2)and the choice of optional event 2(or 1).The connectives of “Buran”category have the features of negative premise,semantic integrity and relationship.Chapter 3 is the research on the similarities and differences of “Buran” category.This chapter analyzes the commonness among the members of “Buran” category from semantic representation and time matching.All the eight members can represent the semantic framework of logical reasoning.The six members of hypothetical reasoning can adapt to six forms of time matching,and the six members of disjunctive reasoning can adapt to four forms of time matching.Then it discusses the differences of “Buran”category from the aspects of representation differences,frequency of use and stylistic differences.According to the corpus we have,“Buran” category tends to represent the structure of hypothetical reasoning.“Fouze” has the strongest ability to represent hypothetical reasoning structure,while “Yaobu” has the strongest ability to represent disjunctive reasoning structure.The use frequency of “Fouze” is the highest,accounting for 69.26% of all the corpus of “Buran” category.In different contexts,there are differences in the choice of the eight members.Chapter 4 is the analysis of the realization of “Buran” category in discourse.According to the quantity and order of the realization of logical semantic structure elements in the discourse,we explore the types of the realization of “Buran” category.There are seven types of hypothetical reasoning and two types of disjunctive reasoning.The realization of the semantic structure of “Buran” category also needs the assistance of other parts of speech,such as adverbs,conjunctions and modal verbs,which can help the “Buran” category to complete the “hint” of some semantic structure elements.And sometimes the members of “Buran” category also complete the reference through co-occurrence.We also discuss the special referential sequence of the logical semantic structure of “Buran” category,which includes the separated referential sequence and the contextual referential sequence.Chapter 5 discusses the discourse formation and selection mechanism of “Buran”category.The discourse realization of the semantic structure of “Buran” category is the process in which the communicative subject refers to the things,events and relations in the objective world according to the specific intention,environment and cognition.In daily communication,the speaker will choose from the set of expression forms of “Buran” category according to the specific situation.The communicative intention,communicative environment and cognitive state of event relationship are all important factors that affect the choice of communicative subject.The whole discourse realization of “Buran” category follows the mechanism of “perceiving the specific communicative intention-observing the communicative environment-processing the relationship between events-choosing the appropriate language symbols to realize the discourse and constructing the corresponding communicative meaning”.The conclusion summarizes the conclusion and innovation of the whole research,and points out the shortcomings of the research and the future research ideas.To sum up,this research starts from semantics and looks back on form,closely combines with the specific application of language,and discusses the semantic characteristics,similarities and differences,discourse realization form,discourse formation and selection mechanism of each member of “Buran” category,which provides a certain reference for the application research on TCFL,lexicography,artificial intelligence and other fields.
