This paper researches on the progressive adjectives in contemporary Chinese language,and makes some explanations after the meticulous description and analysis. This paper is divided into six parts,including the introduction and conclusion.The introduction part introduces the objective and the significance,the current research situation of this relevant field,and the theory,methods in this paper and other interrelated details.The first chapter puts forward the object of this study.It studies the differences of the subcategory of single-syllable adjectives with "着(zhe) ",and has a conclusion about the ability of the performance sequences.It also makes an explanation for the difference of the adjectives' ability with "了(le) "着(zhe) "过(guo) "The second chapter describes the performance in syntactic and grammar aspects in detail of the structure "A_单+着(zhe) ".It makes an investigation on semantic features of each subcategory,and concludes the choice and constraints for "A_单" semantically in the structure "A_单+着(zhe) "The third chapter studies the development course of the structure "A_单+着(zhe) " in diachronic view,and divides the course into three periods:Sprout period, stereotyped period and the development period.It defines the functions of these "A "from the prospective of category and cross-language,and forecasts the future development of this structure.The fourth chapter uses the cognitive theory to obtain the results of cognitive model of the structure "A_单+着(zhe) " after analyzing the situation system,and studies its functions in discourse concretely.The last part is the conclusion about the study and puts forward some questions that can have an in-depth study.
