Mental space concepts,such as broad-minded,are originally inspired from daily life,closely related to individual self-awareness and mental health,it’s been rarely discussed as an issue,but modern philosophy breeds its birth.Many concepts,such as imagination of space and transcendental space,have given metaphysics of ontological origin,such as perceptual space,social space and spiritual space,has deep epistemological origin.Phenomenological space has also given the enlightenment of concrete meaning.The following four contents have been discussed based on the related modern research:First,the demonstration of concept and existence of mental space.Mental space,different from spiritual space,awareness space and cyberspace,is the first person subjectivity experience,not only the integration of body,society,language and ecological,including cognition,emotion and will,but also dynamic relation network system about people and people,people and affairs,diachrony and synchrony,cause and effect,contextual identity of self-regulation.Second,the exploration of mental space structure.Embodied space is the root of Mental Space.The individual experience body changes of widening and narrowing which evoke its tension or relaxation,and then awakens the cognition and emotion.Multiple selves is the core of Mental Space.Self,including metaphysics,society,physical and linguistic context,usually situated in dialogue of dynamic multiple context as subject or object perspective.With demonstration of geometry,psychological development and psychological content,mental space has topological structure and constructs different relations by virtue of topological space displacement,region and direction.Third,construction cognitive context model of mental space.Cognitive context is internal main thread connecting mental space which includes triple dimensions cognitive contexts,perceptual space,situational space and semantic space,which consist cognitive context model with working self.During the cognitive processing,working self,initiator and coordinator of cognitive mechanisms,joint organizes and controls the relation among triple dimensions with self-defining memories and makes them working independently,coordinately and integrating with each other.Cognitive context model is construction and functional structure more than psychological representation and mental content,which has directivity,boundary and situation that expanding and compressing in the daily life.Fourth,the application and prospect of mental space.Mental space embodies the maximum value in clinical mental intervention and consists with the origin of mental diseases,it can be based on the evaluation of mental problems and mental disorders.The therapist also can establish a general psychotherapy scheme,reconstruct the positive mental space with the patient.As an intermediary between the initial domain and the target domain,it makes orientational metaphors better interpret how the concept has meaning,remedy deficiency of perceptual symbol theory and lead perceptual symbol change from static to topological space dynamic structure.
