A Study Of Chinese Form-semantic Mismatch Construction "N₂VP Of N₁"

This paper studies the Chinese mismatch construction"N₁DEN₂VP".Under the framework of construction grammar theory,it systematically describes the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic expressions of typical dislocation configuration in Chinese.On this basis,it analyzes the inheritance relationship between constructions,explains the mechanism of the formation of mismatch construction from the perspective of cognitive mechanism and social function.This thesis adopts the research ideas of systematic description and functional explanation.Firstly,it focuses on the research significance of form-function mismatch and the fitness of the construction grammar theory and the form-function mismatch theory,and works to sort out the previous studies about sentences like“TA DE LAOSHI DANG DE HAO”,which are typical examples of the structure"N₁DEN₂VP".Then the paper works to analyze syntactic structure of"N₁DEN₂VP"and describes the syntactic and semantic behaviors of the"N₁","N₂","N₂"and"VP"components.The paper further studies the similarities and differences between the phrasal copy sentence and form-meaning mismatch construction.Moreover,the generation mechanism of “N₁DEN₂VP"has been studied from the diachronic and syntactic perspective,in which“V-DE”?”V-V”?pseudo possession and pseudo nominal quantifiers.Finally,the paper tries to explain its generation mechanism and the looming of"DE".The purpose of this paper is to develop a systematic study of the form-meaning mismatch system of Chinese discourse,however,it mainly studies two typical constructions among all-which are pseudo possession and pseudo nominal quantifiers.There is still room for studies of other specific form-meaning mismatch constructions.Also,this paper attempts to analyze the generation of construction from a diachronic perspective,but in addition to limited ancient Chinese examples,the research is mainly based on modern Chinese Mandarin,and lacks studies of Chinese dialects or other languages say English.Also,the nature of“DE”should be an important topic in the further study.
