Research On "Literariness" In The Comparative Perspective Of Chinese And Western Literary Theory

As an important theoretical concept,"literariness" has now become a core issue in the field of literary theory and literary criticism.It was first proposed by the Russian formalist theorist Jacobson in 1921.It is regarded as the research object of“literary science”,and it is also what makes a work a literary work."Literariness " has gone through the process of theoretical construction,meaningful deconstruction and discourse reconstruction in the context of Western literary theory,and has demonstrated its rich aesthetic connotation and profound historical significance of literary theory.After the 1980 s,"literariness" began to "articulate" with the context of contemporary Chinese literary theory.With the occurrence of "aesthetic turn" and "cultural turn","literariness" gradually became associated with the knowledge structure and the research paradigm of contemporary literary theory,has become a core proposition covering the basic problem domain of literary theory.Reverting "literariness" to a basic literary theory problem and conducting a comprehensive study on this will conducive to advance the systematic project of "contemporary literary theory discourse system construction" in the context of "cultural confidence".This thesis revolves around the evolution of "literariness" in the history of Chinese and Western literary theory.The full text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is mainly based on the cultural background of Russian formalism,discussing the historical context,cultural connotation and historical significance of the "literariness".Jacobson put forward the concept of "literariness",which is based on rich literary creation practice,it was a kind of reaction to the dominant "social historical school" at that time,and also a continuation of the Western formalist aesthetic tradition from ancient Greece to German classical philosophy."Literariness" is embodied as a theoretical creation of subject autonomy,its generation mechanism is "defamiliarization",which initiates the “linguistic turn”of literary research.The second chapter mainly discusses the development of "literariness" in the context of western literary theory.Jacobson's departure from Russia essentially revealed the "theoretical journey" of "literariness" in the Western world.After Russian formalism,"literariness" has experienced a series of discourse changes from Structuralism,Deconstructionism,Cultural Studies and after-Theory.Unfolding this historical context can fully reveal the richness,complexity and diversity of "literariness" as a theoretical proposition.This is an important background and theoretical resource for us to discuss the construction of literary theory based on the current cultural context.The third chapter discusses the " articulations" between "literariness" and the“aesthetic turn” of contemporary Chinese literary theory.The concept of "literariness" in the modern sense was formally "involved" in the development process of contemporary Chinese literary theory after the 1980 s.However,as a conceptual expression,"literariness" appeared in the 1920 s and 1930 s."Literariness" reflects a variety of aspects in the context of Chinese literary theory.Discussing this will help us better understand the knowledge configuration of Chinese literary theory,and reveal the mutual penetration of "literariness" and contemporary literary theory.The fourth chapter is based on the knowledge of Chinese literary theory after the1990 s,analyzes the theoretical value and practical significance of the "literariness" and the knowledge transformation of contemporary literary theory.Around the issue of "literariness",the contemporary literary theory from the 1990 s to the beginning of the 21 st century has undergone a paradigm transformation of "cultural turn",which is embodied in the "end of literature","literariness expansion","anti-essentialism" and“the construction of the discourse system of contemporary literary theory”.This chapter mainly focuses on the disciplinary reflection and theoretical reconstruction related to "literariness",analyzes the connotation changes and extensions of "literariness",and further explores the influence of "literariness" on the production of contemporary literary theory knowledge and the construction of the discourse system of literary theory.The fifth chapter based on the perspective of "comparison of Chinese and Western literary theories",summarizes the paradigm transformation and the historical significance of "literariness" in different literary theory contexts.Specifically,in the context of Western literary theory,"literariness" has undergone three important theoretical turns,namely linguistic turn,cultural turn,and post-theoretical turn;in the context of contemporary Chinese literary theory,"literariness" also has three important transitional meanings,namely the aesthetic turn,the cultural turn and the construction of the contemporary literary theory discourse system.The two have similarities and differences in the way of speaking,existence,and discourse system,which together enrich the relevance of "literariness" and the construction of contemporary literary theory.At the same time,this chapter also deeply analyzes the theoretical resources related to "literariness" in the context of ancient literary theory,in order to promote the integration of ancient literary theory resources into "literariness" and help the construction of contemporary literary theory discourse system.Through a comprehensive discussion of the issue of "literariness",it can be found that "literariness" has always been in the process of continuous construction and development in the context of Chinese and Western literary theory.As a modern subject concept,although "literariness" originated in the West,it directly participates in the theoretical construction and knowledge transformation of contemporary Chinese literary theory.At present,"literariness" has broken through the theoretical connotation of Russian formalism and has become a core issue for future discussions on literary theory and literary criticism."Construction of the discourse system of contemporary literary theory" is an important topic currently facing the literary theory circle of our country.It is not only a disciplinary discourse,but also a subjective discourse.The issue of "literariness" is related to the basic problem domain of literary theory,Therefore,it has important theoretical and practical significance to discuss the "construction of the discourse system of contemporary literary theory" based on "literariness".
