The Study On The Security Construction Of Ideology In Chinese Universities

The construction of ideology in universities has become the center of constructionof national ideology. It is an urgent political task for universities in China to seize theopportunity and face the challenge to push and lead the development of mainstreamideology during the process of globalization.This dissertation, based on the principle of “proposing a question, analyzing thequestion and solving the question”, mainly discusses the security construction ofideology in universities, focusing on the following six aspects: defining concepts,classifying significance, analyzing challenges, proposing principles of construction,constructing platforms and establishing operating mechanism. The first chapter explainsthe essential concepts like ideology, security of ideology, security construction ofideology, security construction of ideology in university, etc. The second chapter provesthe significance of security construction of ideology in universities from the aspects ofmaintenance of national security, the life-and-death problem of socialism, thefundamental guarantee for the construction of socialist culture with Chinesecharacteristics, the direction for constructing core values of socialism, and the securityguarantee for the development of universities. The third chapter analyses those severechallenges that universities are facing, including Neoliberalism, Democratic Socialism,The History of Nihilism, Extreme Individualism, Hedonism, The Theory of the End ofIdeology, etc. Due to the negative influence of Western movies and TV series, theintegration of Western culture from commodity consumption and infiltration of Westernpolitical cultures, nowadays, the security of campus culture in Chinese universities hasbeen challenged. Besides, the infiltration of religion and sabotage from heresies hasbecome the threat to the security of ideology in universities. On the other hand, theweakening of politics education and security ideology of university students' cause the lack of education of ideology in universities. The fourth chapter discusses the fourprinciples that Chinese universities should follow for security construction of ideology,i.e., intensifying leadership of CPC on the construction of ideology, sticking to theprinciple of humanity in ideological work, sticking to the principle of developing withthe times in the field of ideological work and sticking to the principle of incorporatingthings of diverse nature in ideological work. The fifth chapter focuses on establishingfour platforms for security construction of ideology in universities, including classroomeducation, campus culture, community activities and campus media. The sixth chapterproposes to construct security operating mechanism of ideology in universities byestablishing precaution mechanism, warning mechanism and guarantee mechanism.From the perspective of non-traditional security, this dissertation focuses on thesecurity construction of ideology in universities, which has great significance both intheory and practice of maintaining social stability, guarding national ideology andensuring the invincible position of China in international community.
