With the deepening of spatial turn in education,the redesigning of learning space under technologyenriched environment has become a new study area.With the practical needs of constructing smart campus and redesigning learning space,many countries have successively explored new learning spaces,in terms of how to change learning spaces,how space affects students' learning,and how to promote learning engagement in campus.These questions put new demands on theory and practice.At present,phenomena such as excessive technology,insufficient interaction,stereotyped and cultural breaks are found in the process of constructing of smart campus and redesigning of learning space.These phenomena cause problems such as low sense of place on campus and low engagement in learning.Therefore,from the perspective of sense of place,this study reviews the related researches on the sense of place theory,the sense of place in the field of education,the reconstruction of campus space,and the learning engagement under the technology-enriched environment and constructs a model of sense of place that promotes learning engagement.Additionally,this study explores the relationship between sense of place,learning motivation,and learning engagement and proposes some technologically facilitating strategies for students' sense of place on campus.Furthermore,a tool is designed and developed to promote students' sense of place,the application effects of the tool being evaluated.Through model construction and verification,designing technologically facilitating strategy,system design and development,and case study,this study discusses the sense of place on campus under the technology-enriched environment in depth.The main contents of this study include three aspects:(1)Constructing a model of sense of place that promotes learning engagement.By analyzing the core elements of the sense of place,learning motivation and learning engagement as well as related models,a theoretical model of the sense of place that promotes the learning engagement is preliminarily constructed.After that,the model is revised based on the result of survey data fitting.Finally,the path analysis of the model is carried out to further analyze the relationship between sense of place,motivation and engagement,after which the research hypothesis is tested and explained.This study shows that the sense of place not only has a direct impact on learning engagement,but also indirectly affect learning engagement through learning engagement.(2)Formulating technologically facilitating strategies for sense of place on campus.Based on the influencing factors and formation process of students' sense of place on campus,this paper proposes technological strategies to facilitate students' sense of place on campus,including visual supplement,place perception and location,experience enhancement,making of virtual space.Technical promotion dimensions,include context inherit and integration of local culture,humanity scale and place interaction are also proposed.Then,it discusses the application of the strategies from the perspective of place dependence,place identity and place attachment.(3)Discussing the function and structure of the tool for facilitating the sense of place.Based on the technological facilitating strategies for sense of place,a technological tool was designed after requirement analysis.Through case study,a facilitating tool,“Campus Wandering”,was developed based on the characteristics of campus and students in pilot school.Corresponding student activities are also designed.The preliminary application shows that this tool can increase the interactions between students and places in campus,strengthen students' experience of the place,encourage students to participate in place-based activities,and strengthen the sense of place on campus.Overall,this study introduces the sense of place into exploration of technology-enriched learning space in campus,which provides a new theoretical perspective for the redesigning learning space.The sense of place model reveals the relationship between sense of place on campus and learning engagement,which expands the theory sense of place from an empirical perspective.The technologically facilitating strategies for sense of place on campus help practitioners to clarify the relationship between the physical,technical functions and cultural connotations of the learning space,and can provide practical guidance for the design,application and evaluation of campus space.
