| The outlook on life is the master key and the main switch on our journey through life.General Secretary Xi Jinping has noted the significance of the outlook on life,especially cultivating a communist outlook on life,and stressed the importance of cultivating a correct outlook on life in ideological and political education in many speeches since the 18 th CPC National Congress.At a symposium in commemoration of revolutionaries of the older generation,the General Secretary emphasized that revolutionaries of the older generation dedicated all their time and energy to the cause of revolution and construction precisely because they cherished the great ideals of communism and established a firm communist outlook on life.In the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics,on the expedition to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,in the practice of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way,accelerating the grand blueprint for socialist modernization,and reaching the Two Centenaries goals,it is of obvious realistic and historical significance to strengthen the cultivation of a communist outlook on life for college students of the new area that are going to be builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristic.Young people make a country prosperous and strong.A country will have a future and a nation will have hope when the younger generation has ideals,skills,and responsibilities.To become such builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics,the key is to establish a correct outlook on life.General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly drawn attention to the fundamental question of what kind of people will be trained,how they will be trained,and for whom they are trained in colleges and universities.This question is actually about the cultivation of what kind of outlook on life.At present,college students of the new era mostly have a positive attitude,but some unhealthy social practices like money worship,hedonism,and individualism have also eroded their world view,outlook on life and values.It is therefore imperative to strengthen the cultivation of a communist outlook on life for college students of the new era in order to answer the fundamental question of what kind of people will be trained and for whom they are trained in colleges and universities.The paper begins by discussing some concepts including outlook on life,communist outlook on life and cultivation of communist outlook on life,and clarifying the relationship between outlook on life,world view and values,the relationship between socialist outlook on life and communist outlook on life,and the relationship between ideological and political education and cultivation of a communist outlook on life for college students of the new era.After reviewing and reflecting on the developments in cultivating a communist outlook on life since the founding of new China,it sums up the achievements that have been made in cultivating a communist outlook on life,and on this basis,probes into the misconceptions and misunderstandings about communism and the communist outlook on life that existed in this period and the resulting dilution of the communist outlook on life since the reform and opening up.Through a questionnaire survey,it is understood that college students of the new era have a vague idea of the communist outlook on life;even worse,some non-communist outlooks on life such as hedonism,money worship,and egoism take up a considerate portion among college students.Hence,for college students of the new era that are going to become builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics,the cultivation of communist outlook on life is a pressing issue of important meaning.The cultivation of a communist outlook on life for college students in the new era must first be based upon the classic text of Marxism that sheds light on the true meanings of communism and the communist outlook on life.The outlook on life is not isolated,but embodied in people's values and outlooks on labor,social intercourse,self-worth,wealth,professional dedication,and nature.We need to proceed from these aspects to understand the true meaning of a communist outlook on life and overcome the one-sided,wrong misunderstandings of the past.How can college students cultivate a communist outlook on life in the new era then? As mentioned before,we must first build on the classic text of Marxist classic writers and grasp the true meaning of a communist outlook on life.Second,we must make sense of historical materialism,grasp the basic laws of development of human history,know the inevitability of communism,and establish faith in emancipation of mankind.Third,based on the vivid and realistic social practice,we must make college students of the new era find the necessity and reality of a communist outlook on life in their social life.Of course,colleges and universities should perform its due function and attach great importance to the cultivation of a communist outlook on life for college students,and this process involves not only an organizational assurance,but also a systematical reflection of cultivation to ensure the effectiveness of cultivating a communist outlook on life for college students.The society should create a public opinion environment favorable to establishing a communist outlook on life and promoting the pride in correct values and outlooks on labor,social intercourse,wealth,professional dedication,and nature.This will exert the same influence on and off campus as an indispensable step to consolidate college students' communist outlook on life. |
