The integrated development of new technology clusters represented by cloud computing,artificial intelligence and 5G promotes the transformation of existing technology paradigms,penetrates and communicates with all walks of life,becomes the core driver of the new industrial revolution,promotes the industrial transformation and upgrading driven by industrial digitization and digital industrialization,which is a powerful driving force to change production and lifestyle(Annarelli et al.,2021;Sahut,Iandoli & Teulon,2021;Pournaras & Lazakidou,2008).The COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 and the flood disaster in Henan province in 2021 have accelerated the migration of offline economy to online economy,pushed platform economy and platform enterprises to the forefront again,which makes digital platform economy become the fastest growing,broadest and most innovative economic activity at present(Pelzer,Frenken & Boon,2019).In the context of digital economy transformation,platform enterprises with digital platforms can not only help their own enterprises to export digital products and services,but also have a strong radiation effect,enabling digital development and digital transformation of other enterprises.This platform model is highly subversive and can promote social migration,change the economic growth mode and the industry layout fundamentally,change people's production and life style.It has become one of the main melody of digital economy development and the core of the digital economy growth engine,and is an effective measure to help transform the digital economy(Zhu et al.,2020).Wei and Zhao(2021)show that digital platform provides communication and cooperation channels for the value co-creation of massive innovation subjects,provides infrastructure for diversified resource combination and digital sharing.Wu,Liu and Song(2021)show that digital platforms can add value to products and services in firm,and then form strong core competitiveness and unique competitive advantages.This paper focuses on platform firms that have their own digital platforms and can output digital products and digital services in the context of digital economy,for this kind of digital platform firms,they must make use of digital platforms capabilities,gather employees,customers and suppliers,and capture rich information,technology and other resources for these subjects,and then build unique competitive advantages of platform enterprises(Li,Chen & Zhou,2021).Therefore,digital platform capabilities are crucial to the construction and formation of platform enterprises' competitive advantages.However,the existing theoretical research on the digital platform capabilities of platform enterprises is extremely scarce(Annarelli et al.,2021).Scholars have not reached a consensus on the concept and connotation of digital platform capabilities,especially the lack of domestic research on digital platform capabilities.How to build enterprise competitive advantages in the context of digital economy and other issues have not been paid attention to.In addition,in the practice and development of platform enterprises,it is not uncommon for platform enterprises to form unique competitive advantages by relying on powerful digital platform capabilities.It is amazing that the enabling effect and radiation effect of digital platform further trigger industrial digitalization and digital industrialization(Shan,2021).However,the academic circle has not given clear answers to the important questions about the influence mechanism and action path of digital platform capability on the competitive advantage of platform enterprises.Therefore,according to the principle of "taking root in Chinese management practice and deepening organizational management theory",this paper responds to the major issue of how platform enterprises can successfully build unique competitive advantages by relying on digital platform capabilities under the background of digital economy,which is extremely contemporary,novel and innovative.Basic on systematically sorting out the concept,connotation and characteristics of digital platform capabilities,deeply analysis of how platform enterprises exert digital platform capabilities to effectively promote the formation of platform enterprises' competitive advantages can promote the theoretical research on digital platform capabilities,which is conducive to in-depth reveal the specific path mechanism between digital platform capabilities and platform enterprises' competitive advantages.It greatly enriches and expands the research field of digital platform capability and platform enterprises' competitive advantage.Although the digital platform ability can effectively promote the construction of competitive advantage and the formation in platform enterprise,the specific path between them remains to be further reveal and mining.In the development of business practice,a remarkable feature of business digitization means that value creation is increasingly realized through the production of digital information,regardless of whether this digital value is closely or loosely connected with material products(Bryniolfsson & Mc Afee,2014).In fact,when embedded into the intelligent functions of products or by creating pure digital content,it also means that if there is no digital value creation,the value created in non-digital ways will be seriously damaged(Sahut,Iandoli & Teulon,2021).Platform enterprises continuously expand and expand multiple participants through digital platform capabilities to create value together,which directly affects the relationship between digital platform capabilities and platform enterprises' competitive advantages(Sahut,Iandoli & Teulon,2021).According to the suggestions of Wan & Liu(2021),the platform enterprise value co-creators can be divided according to the internal and external subjects of the enterprise.In this paper,value co-creation in platform enterprise can be deconstructed into firm,users and suppliers,which can carry out intrapreneurship in firm,customer in value co-creation,supplier value co-creation.The rapidly changing digital economy requires platform enterprises to gather employees in firm,consumers and suppliers based on their powerful digital platform capabilities,and provide different products and services for different subjects to meet their needs(Anderson,2004;Brynjolfsson,Hu & Smith,2006;Gong,Ban & Zhang,2021).The stronger the heterogeneity of the needs of these subjects,the larger the product range and the lower the cost of products or services,the greater the value created(Fazli-Salehi et al.,2021;Schilling,2000;Schreier,2006;Tan & Zhou,2017),exert the value creation potential of them,jointly create greater value,forming characteristic digital platform mode,and promoting platform enterprises to form unique competitive advantages.Therefore,intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation,and supplier value co-creation may play an important role in the relationship between digital platform capabilities and competitive advantages in platform firm.In addition,digital market exploration in platform firm has a key impact on the sustainability of competitive advantages in platform firm(Zhang,Wu & Cui,2015).However,existing researches do not reveal the path mechanism and boundary conditions of digital platform capability to competitive advantage in platform firm.Based on the dynamic capability theory,value co-creation theory and value chain theory,this paper studies the promotion effect of digital platform capability on the competitive advantage in platform enterprises,and deconstructs the specific mechanism of digital platform capability on the competitive advantage in platform enterprises by taking the relationship between the two as the logical thread.This paper constructs theoretical models around digital platform capability,intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation,supplier value co-creation,digital market exploration and competitive advantage in platform firm,aiming to explain the direct effect of digital platform capability on competitive advantage in platform firm,the mediating role of intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation and supplier value co-creation,as well as the moderating role of digital market exploration.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:First,this paper systematically combs,summarizes and extracts relevant domestic and foreign literature,and puts forward the idea of researching digital platform capability on competitive advantage in platform firm.In the theoretical basis and literature review part,the dynamic capability theory,value co-creation theory and value chain theory are systematically sorted out to provide a theoretical basis for this study.At the same time,a systematic review and comment are made on the theoretical research related to digital platform capability,intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation,supplier value co-creation,competitive advantage in platform firm,digital market exploration,and different research perspectives,research content,theoretical basis,antecedent variables and outcome variables of relevant variables are summarized and extracted.Second,this paper adopts exploratory multi-case study method,based on case data,to clarify the concept and connotation of digital platform capability,intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation,supplier in value co-creation,competitive advantage in platform firm,digital market exploration.Based on this,the paper constructs a theoretical model of digital platform capability to competitive advantage in platform firm.On this basis,13 research hypotheses are proposed to further reveal the direct impact of digital platform capability on competitive advantage in platform firm,the mediating role of intrapreneurship in firm,consumer in value co-creation,supplier in value co-creation,the moderating role of digital market exploration.Third,a formal questionnaire containing 41 items was determined by means of expert discussion and preliminary research,and a questionnaire survey was conducted in Beijing,Shenzhen,Qingdao and Changchun by means of field interview,email and Wechat,and a total of 398 valid questionnaires were returned.SPSS 24.0 software and AMOS 24.0 software were used for data analysis and empirical test of formal questionnaire data,and the test results showed that each variable measurement scale had good reliability and validity.SPSS 24.0 software was used to conduct multiple analysis on the sample data.Among the 13 research hypotheses proposed in this paper,12 are supported by the data results,and 1 has not been supported by the data,and the data analysis results were further analyzed and discussed.Fourth,this paper proposed the theoretical innovation and practical management inspiration,refines and summarizes the research conclusions,and pointed out the limitations and deficiencies,and then proposes the future research direction.
