Rural development has become a central problem in China’s economic and social growth since the country’s creation of a moderately prosperous society. At the time, activating the vigor of rural innovation and entrepreneurship, optimizing the environment for rural innovation and entrepreneurship, and fostering new impetus for rural revitalisation are critical strategic objectives for China’s economic growth.Farmers’ enterprise,as a basic measure to boost the organic impetus of rural development,is not only an objective need to support rural economic development, but also an important answer to increase farmers’ income and stabilize their job.The connection between infrastructure development and economic level is closely connected, whether from traditional public economics theory or a plethora of related literature. It is primarily evident in the multiplication and crowding-out effects.Good transportation infrastructure speeds up the movement of resources, eliminates geographic limitations, and encourages collaboration and resource sharing among various areas.Furthermore,it assists farmers in obtaining entrepreneurship knowledge, improves market access for farmers to start their own companies, and encourages the creation of an enterprising environment in communities. This paper’s actual context is the need to enhance rural infrastructure building and stimulate rural innovation and business as part of the rural revitalisation plan. The theoretical background of this paper is that the research perspective on transportation infrastructure focuses on the development of high-speed railways at the urban level, lacking attention to the development of rural roads at the rural level, and the research on rural entrepreneurship focuses on the external economic environment and individual resource endowment, lacking attention to rural infrastructure.Based on the foregoing, this article poses the following question: Can rural road growth encourage agricultural entrepreneurship? If this is the case, what are the methods by which rural road growth encourages agricultural entrepreneurship? If this is the case, are there variations in remote road construction that encourage farmer entrepreneurship? The promotion of farmers’ entrepreneurship serves as the beginning point for this paper, which follows the research paradigm of theory research, empirical analysis, and policy suggestions. Its main objective is to examine how rural road development impacts farmers’ entrepreneurial behavior.First, current study results are consulted, including those from the theories of entrepreneurship, resource dependency, chance recognition, and resource allocation. The reality of China’s rural development is combined, and then on the basis of clearly defining the core concepts of rural roads and farmers’ entrepreneurship, the inner mechanism of rural road development affecting farmers’ entrepreneurship is theoretically explored, and a theoretical analysis framework is constructed through the derivation of mathematical models.Secondly, data from the China Labour Force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)are applied to empirically analyse the mediating factors such as opportunity identification mechanism, financial participation mechanism, logistics support mechanism and education and training mechanism of road development affecting farmers’ entrepreneurship.Based on the observational findings,a heterogeneity analysis of farms with various social capital, resource environments, and geographic locations is done to address the research issues presented in this article. Finally, concrete policy suggestions for encouraging farmers’ entrepreneurship are improved in light of the results of the study. The following are the main findings of this paperFirst, the development of rural roads to promote the entrepreneurial endeavors of farmers is plagued by insufficient investment, limited coverage, and inadequate support measures.First, there is insufficient investment in rural roads,as evidenced by the fact that rural roads have not yet reached full coverage and that there are still rural regions without roads.Second, the coverage of rural roads is limited, meaning that the majority of rural roads do not extend into the countryside, and there are still a significant number of rural regions with primarily dirt roads. The fact that local governments have not aggressively adopted supporting measures to maximize the factor flow effect of rural roads demonstrates that the supporting measures for rural roads are insufficient.Second, the development of rural roads might encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of farmers. It may be derived from the theoretical model that the opening of rural roads is a significant factor in the entrepreneurial decisions of farmers. The resource dependence theory, opportunity identification theory, and resource allocation theory indicate that the opening of rural roads influences the resource reliance, opportunity identification, and resource allocation decisions of farmers. The empirical findings indicate that the opening of rural farm roads has a considerable favorable effect on the entrepreneurial activity of farmers. The instrumental variables technique, the Heckman two-step method, and the propensity score matching method all confirm this result.Hence, the opening of rural roads has a substantial impact on the entrepreneurship of farmers.Thirdly, the development of rural roads can increase farmers’ entrepreneurialism, entrepreneurial income, and entrepreneurial patterns. To begin with, rural road building may not only increase farmers’ entrepreneurship in their hometowns, but also encourage farmers’ entrepreneurship in their hometowns, suggesting that rural road construction can optimize farmers’ entrepreneurial mode.Second, the development of rural roads may encourage not only farmers’ agricultural entrepreneurship, but also farmers’ non-agricultural entrepreneurship, showing that rural road construction can optimize farmers’ entrepreneurship mode.Lastly, rural road development can raise the entrepreneurial income of farmers, showing that rural road construction can boost the entrepreneurial income of farmers.Consequently, rural road development has a considerable impact on farmers’ entrepreneurial mode, farmers’ entrepreneurial mode and farmers’ entrepreneurial revenue.Fourthly, rural road development encourages entrepreneurship among farmers primarily through opportunity identification mechanisms, financial participation mechanisms, logistical assistance mechanisms, and training and education mechanisms.Secondly, rural road construction assists farmers in identifying possibilities to encourage entrepreneurship, which is accomplished through the farmers’ own opportunity identification.Second, rural road building assists farmers in engaging in financial participation in order to boost entrepreneurship, and it has been discovered that this financial participation is achieved through informal financial involvement.Thirdly, rural road building facilitates the availability of farmers to logistical support, hence fostering entrepreneurship.Third, rural road development helps farmers get access to training and education that promotes entrepreneurship. This training and education is achieved through skills training, education, and training in entrepreneurship.Consequently, the techniques through which rural road development fosters entrepreneurialism among farmers include the identification of opportunities, financial involvement, logistical assistance, and training and education.Fifthly, there are variations in social capital in the encouragement of entrepreneurship among farmers through rural road building.According to the theoretical study, more social capital can enhance the recognition of opportunities and access to social resources, hence enhancing the entrepreneurial promotion effect of rural road building on farmers. The empirical findings reveal social capital variability in the positive link between rural road building and farmers’ entrepreneurship;that is,when social capital is greater, rural road construction is more likely to support farmers’ entrepreneurship.Sixthly, there are variances in the promotion impact of rural road development on farmers’ entrepreneurship in terms of resources and environment.According to the theoretical study,a better resource environment can generate entrepreneurial chances and external financial resources, therefore enhancing the promotion effect of rural road development on farmers’ entrepreneurship. The empirical findings reveal resource environment variability in the favorable association between rural road building and farmer entrepreneurship. In other words, when the resource situation is better, rural road building is more likely to encourage farmer entrepreneurship.Seventhly, the significance of rural road building in fostering farmer entrepreneurship varies geographically.According to the theoretical study, the central and western areas have greater natural resources and more government assistance, hence enhancing the function of rural road development in encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit of farmers. The empirical findings indicate that there is spatial variability in the beneficial link between rural road building and the entrepreneurial activity of farmers. In other words, rural road improvement is more likely to stimulate farmer entrepreneurship in the central and western areas.Possible innovations of this paper compared to the results of existing studies.Secondly, the research of the variables influencing farmers’ entrepreneurship has been developed from the standpoint of infrastructure creation.Existing studies have primarily examined the determinants of farmers’ entrepreneurship from the perspectives of the external economic environment and their own resource endowments, with the external economic environment focusing on financial policies and their own resource endowments focusing on factors such as social capital and entrepreneurial capacity, but transport infrastructure has received insufficient attention.Rural roads, which are a crucial component of rural transport infrastructure, have a significant and profound effect on the entrepreneurship of farmers. This paper incorporates rural road construction into the theoretical analysis framework of farmers’ entrepreneurship, which can broaden the research perspective of farmers’ entrepreneurship and provide theoretical support for a thorough analysis of the crucial role of farmers’ road construction in the process of farmers’ entrepreneurship.Second,it broadens the scope of transportation infrastructure study to include rural infrastructure.Being an essential component of urban transport infrastructure,high-speed rail plays a critical role in encouraging high-quality urban growth.Current research has focused mostly on the economic implications of high-speed railway development, such as industry restructuring, human capital upgrading, and accelerated economic growth, but research into rural infrastructure is still in its infancy.Promoting the rural revitalization plan requires the rural infrastructure to play a significant supporting role. This paper chooses rural road construction as a research perspective to investigate its impact on farmers’ entrepreneurialism, thereby broadening the research perspective on transport infrastructure and providing an effective supplement to the in-depth understanding of the crucial role of transport infrastructure on urban and rural development.Lastly,it gives an in-depth research of the effect mechanism of rural road development on the entrepreneurial endeavors of farmers,as well as the variances in its influence.Combining the factor flows brought about by rural road construction, this paper constructs a theoretical framework for rural road construction to influence farmers’ entrepreneurship, analyzes how rural road construction influences farmers’ entrepreneurship through opportunity identification mechanism, financial participation mechanism, logistics support mechanism, and training and education mechanism, and compares the differences of rural road construction influencing farmers’ entrepreneurship under different social capital, resource environment, and geographical location, clarifying the The inner logic of rural road development as it relates to farmers’ entrepreneurship is elucidated, giving a mechanism analysis and difference analysis notion for future research on the connection between rural infrastructure and farmers’ entrepreneurship.
