Along with the historical process of Chinese immigrants’ integration into American society,Chinese American literature, which shows the life experience, psychological state and political appeal of Chinese American immigrants,is also constantly developing.Among them, the female literary works which are mainly created by Chinese American women writers and show their daily life, emotional world and status are especially abundant. From Jade Snow Wong, the mother of Chinese American literature,to Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan,the two peaks of Chinese American literature,to Fae Myenne Ng,Gish Jen and Lisa See,the rising stars of Chinese American literature, the successive emergence of excellent Chinese American women writers has not only expanded the geographical and cultural territory of Chinese American literature, but also promoted Chinese American literature to new artistic heights. It is worth mentioning that in addition to Chinese American women writers who write in English, the emergence of American immigrant writers, such as Hualing Nie,Geling Yan,etc.who have profound Chinese and Western cultural experience and attainments as well as certain bilingual ability in Chinese and English, also adds a lot of beautiful scenery to Chinese American literature.Although the research results of Chinese American women’s literature have been relatively rich, and there are also many possibilities in the interpretation methods, the existing studies tend to focus on the famous writers such as Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan and their works, resulting in the situation that research on single writer or work is prosperous, and attention to groups is obviously insufficient.Even though some researchers have been involved in Chinese American women writers, there is still much room for interpretation due to the lack of "integrity" and "systematicness".In addition, most researchers tend to analyze the text from the content level rather than the form level, that is to say, there is still a large room for interpretation in terms of narrative skills and writing art.In order to explore the real "landscape" of Chinese American women’s literature, the ideal approach is to adopt feminist criticism, postcolonial theory and postcolonial feminist criticism produced by the combination of the two theories, bringing writers from different generations, such as Jade Snow Wong,Maxine Hong Kingston,Amy Tan,Fae Myenne Ng,Gish Jen and Lisa See etc.into the scope of the study,to find the intergenerational inheritance and artistic transformation, and to explore the hidden Chinese American women’s literary tradition by carding and inducing.Another ideal approach is to break through the language boundary, bringing Hualing Nie,Geling Yan,and other Chinese American women writers who mainly write in Chinese into the research system, and making an overall and systematic interpretation of the internal meaning, external form and narrative skills of Chinese American women writers to improve the Chinese American women literature system by reference and supplement.Through systematic research,it is not difficult to find that Chinese American women writers, such as Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan,or Chinese American women writers with Chinese growth background such as Hualing Nie and Geling Yan,record and reproduce their current American life and family history from their own gender perspective. In fact, this kind of women writing is not only a record and representation of the unique individual feelings and living experiences of Chinese American women, but also an artistic exploration of the identity and cultural attributes of Chinese American women.Because they are in the middle of the social and cultural exchanges between China and the United States, the growth of Chinese American women writers is the process of choosing and integrating of the two cultures. In other words, the Chinese American women writers themselves are the body "field" of the competition, contest and game between the two cultures. Therefore, both Chinese American women writers and Chinese American female images born in their works have to face the contradiction and conflict between "two worlds" and perplex themselves with the hybridity of self-identity.From the perspective of ethnic groups,Chinese American women are ethnic minorities from the third world and the "other" of white American society;from the perspective of gender,Chinese American women are the "other" of white men group and Chinese men group;even in front of white women who are both "sisters",they also become the "other" because of the skin color. In the face of multiple “other” dilemmas such as race and gender, how do Chinese American women writers use their“voice”and“tone”to tell their stories is particularly important, because this is not only the vindication for their own race identity and gender identity, but also a search for their identity and cultural identification,What’s more,an attempt to find themselves and construct subjects as women.Although Chinese American women writers are hard to be accepted by mainstream society and patriarchal society because of their inborn identity dislocation and acquired cultural alienation, this multiple “other” identities give them a unique perspective and emotional experience. They can look back on the Chinese and American society and culture with an intermediate state of“one is the other”and“one is not the other”,and examine the Chinese self and female self in the intermediate state.Specifically speaking,Chinese American women writers tend to create unique images of Chinese American women in the way of artistic processing according to their growth experience, living experience and family history in the “two worlds”,and then use these images as a prism to reflect the common experiences of Chinese American immigrants, their families and ethnic groups, and reflect on the past as well as look forward to the future. The voice and identity construction of Chinese American women not only set an example for women in marginal areas to pursue their ideal way of life, but also provide reference and reflection for the majority of immigrants to better resolve the problems of geographical displacement, identity transformation and cultural conflicts in the postcolonial context.
