Abstract/Summary:
There were numerous inscriptions in ancient Greece, not only involving political practices such as laws and decrees, but also economic activities such as inventories, receipts and expenditures.Relying on the existing academic achievements, this article takes the first volume of Inscriptiones Graecae edited by D.Lewis as the base, and combines the pictures materials of the inventories taken by the author during I learned at Epigraphic Museum,to deeply explore the paradosis inventories in the ancient Greek, that is,the Parthenon inventories in classical Athens. My Ph D thesis consists of five chapters, the specific content is as follows:Firstly,I summarizes the research tradition of public inscriptions in ancient Greece, clarifies the relevant concepts of inventories, and the historical background and current status of the Parthenon inventories.Secondly,I taking the Parthenon inventory as a case, examines the external form of the Parthenon inventories in the classical period, through field investigation, analyzing the external form of the Parthenon inventory and comparing it with other steles in ancient Greece will help us to have a more comprehensive understanding of the Parthenon inventories in the classical period, and it is conducive to exploring the commonality and characteristics of the external form of economic account inscriptions represented by the Parthenon inventories in the classical period.Thirdly,I provides a glimpse into an analysis of the internal form of the Parthenon inventories in the classical period. In this Chapter, first of all,the typical and representative scripts in Parthenon inventories are selected for analysis, and the script in the classical period is deeply understood;in the next part,it pays attention to the stoichedon of the Parthenon inventories and summarizes the characteristics of the Parthenon inventories in classical Athens;in the end, according to the content of the Parthenon inventories, the detailed study of its structure, not only helps the epigrapher to date and add the similar account inscriptions, but also helps to deeply understand the account inscriptions represented by the Parthenon inventories.Fourthly,it is based on the main contents of the Parthenon inventories in classical Athens, and analyzes the specific embodiment of the inventories under the influence of the polis religion,as well as the source and type of treasures inscribed in the Parthenon inventories. Finally,I examines the issue of Athenian public finances as embodied in the Parthenon inventories in the classical period. In view of dokimasia and euthunai in the Athenian public finance involved in the Parthenon inventories, the expenditure of the Athenian public finance in the Panathenaia festival, and the contribution of many treasures in the Parthenon inventories to the Athenian public finance are explored. From this point of view, the publication of the Parthenon inventories in the classical period reflects that the open and transparent operation mechanism of Athenian accounting,is an important inscription evidence for interpreting the public finances in the classical Athens. As inscription evidence, the Parthenon inventories and other historical materials confirm each other, make up for the losses, and more truly and objectively reflect the whole picture of ancient Greek history, which has historical value and great research significance.
