This article attempts to explore the integration of Eastern and Western percussion instruments,and the intersection of traditional and contemporary elements,by analyzing typical works from different historical periods and their relationship with the development of the percussion section of Chinese national orchestras.Facing the problems existing in the development and construction of the Chinese National Orchestra,it will sort out and explore the problems,propose new insights into the close integration of the percussion part with traditional "folk gongs and drums" and Western percussion instruments.The author believes that the construction and development of Chinese national orchestras cannot be separated from the creation of musical works.By retracing the development of Chinese national orchestras and analyzing representative works from different periods,the article examines the characteristics of instrument arrangement,performance techniques,musical rhythm styles,and timbre changes in the construction process of the percussion part,explores the relationship between the percussion part construction in Chinese national orchestras and folk gong and drum music,and investigates the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western percussion instruments within the orchestras.Based on this research,the author attempts to explore the direction of professional development for the percussion part in contemporary Chinese national orchestras.The author visited 34 provincial and municipal professional Chinese national orchestras and believes that the use of Western percussion instruments should be rational and standardized,and a deep understanding of "folk music" can reflect Chinese traditional culture.The paper includes the following chapters:Introduction,discussing the reasons for choosing the topic,research scope and methodology,significance and value,and current research status;Chapter One,outlining the development of Chinese national orchestras from the early 20th century to the present,and examining the progression from their establishment to professional development,including the personnel and conventional arrangement of instruments in the percussion part,main instrument types,the role of works from different periods,and the overall situation;Chapter Two,selecting representative works from various historical stages for analysis,focusing on the arrangement,use of instruments,performance techniques,application of rhythm and color,and artistic expressiveness of the percussion part,thereby outlining the distinctive characteristics,development,and changes of the percussion section in different periods,including the comprehensive professional quality requirements for percussionists;Chapter Three,discussing how composers extract elements from folk gong and drum music for professional creation,the interaction and dependency between the percussion part of national orchestras and folk gong and drum music;Chapter Four,exploring how composers use Western percussion instruments in national orchestras,and their rational combination with traditional Chinese percussion instruments from the perspective of percussion part construction,and examining the relationship between Chinese and Western percussion instruments in the orchestra;Chapter Five,discussing the construction,construction principles,and development trends of the percussion part in Chinese national orchestras,considering the special role and future development trends of the percussion part construction in national orchestras.The author believes that the construction and development of the percussion part in Chinese national orchestras need to grow through continuous trial and exploration.This paper is just an attempt of the author’s endeavor,but also hopes it can play a positive role in promoting the solution of these problems.
