Cross-temporal Magical Soundscape | | Posted on:2024-11-30 | Degree:Doctor | Type:Dissertation | | Country:China | Candidate:X X T e e X i a o X i | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:1525307322496754 | Subject:School of music and dance | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Francesco Filidei(1973–)is one of the most prominent composers in contemporary Italy,with his works frequently performed and highly acclaimed at major music festivals across Europe.His music is deeply influenced by early European music such as the Renaissance and Baroque periods,and he is committed to breaking down the boundaries between contemporary music and early European music to explore more possibilities in sound creation."Musical quotation," approaching music from an organ’s acoustic perspective,collage techniques,and humor imbued with intriguing sonic elements are among the most significant traits in his musical works.These personalized methods of sound shaping further expand upon the European tradition of "musical quotation."This dissertation takes Francesco Filidei’s orchestral composition "Fiori di Fiori," composed in 2012,as the research subject,delving into the creative thinking process behind this cross-temporal sonic expression.It also combines Filidei’s compositional philosophy to explore its stylistic traits and musical language.The structure of this dissertation comprises five chapters.The first chapter will introduce the composer Francesco Filidei’s biography,an overview of his musical works,and the background of his orchestral work,"Fiori di Fiori." The second chapter will provide an overview and historical background of "musical quotation," as well as the biography and works of Girolamo Frescobaldi(1583-1643),including“Fiori Musicali” and “Capriccio Pastorale."
