The theory of team effectiveness is developed from Bandura’s self-efficacy and is defined as a collective belief in whether team members can effectively achieve team goals.Previous studies demonstrated that team effectiveness is an important indicator of team management in the field of sports, and the leadership style of coaches is an important factor affecting team effectiveness. However, the effect on team effectiveness remains largely unknown in the coach’s leadership style. The shared leadership model derived from the field of management is explore in the sports team, thereby improving the level of coaches and the team effectiveness. It can provide theoretical guidance for coaches on leadership model and team effectiveness through verifying the effects of shared leadership behavior on team effectiveness in sports field. Methods: This study adopts the methods of literature data, interviews, questionnaires, mathematical statistics, and action research through the combination of quantitative research and qualitative research. The high-level athletes of ball games in Taiwan area were focused on this study(n=219).Results:(1)Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between shared leadership and team effectiveness of rugby team in Taiwan(r=0.755,p<.05);Shared leadership could explain 56.8% of team effectiveness(R2=0.568,F=256.154,P <0.001).(2)X2/df= 1.49,GFI=.83,AGFI=.80,RMSEA=.05,CFI=.95,PCFI=.87;Overall,the model has an acceptable degree of fit.(3)The results of multiple mediation effect analysis show that coach identification and teammate support have a mediating effect on the impact of shared leadership on self-efficacy(CL:0.303 to 0.597);coach identification and teammate support have a mediating effect on the impact of shared leadership on team performance(CL:0.386 to 0.611)Mediating effect, and the support of teammates is significantly higher than that of coaches(CL:-0.364 to-0.030)(4)The results of action research, with actual feedback from coaches and athletes, show that the expected goal of improving team efficacy has been achieved.Conclusion:(1)athletes feel less frequently about voice behavior in shared leadership behaviors and have the lowest sense of self-efficacy in terms of team efficacy.Significances were only detected in grade level with different background characteristics.no significant difference was found in other characteristics.(2)the effect of shared leadership on team performance is well-fitted;(3)team interpersonal relationships play a mediating role between self-efficacy and team performance in shared leadership.Relationships with teammates have a greater effect on improving team performance than identification with the coach;(4)Coaches can effectively enhance the shared leadership behavior and team effectiveness through the common learning method.
