| Leadership behavior and group cohesion have always been the focus of social psychology research.Coaches' leadership behavior is related to the performance of the sports team, and is an important factor affecting team performance. As a characteristic of the group, team cohesion represents the unity, consistency and harmony of the group, and is one of the important symbols that reflect the combat effectiveness of the sports team.Carron's(1982)sports team cohesion theory model pointed out that leadership factors and personal factors are important variables affecting team cohesion, then how do coaches' leadership factors influence the cohesion of the sports team through player personal factors? Previous studies have shown that the leadership will affect the role involvement of sports individuals and further affect team cohesion.Compared with traditional leadership methods, the transformational leadership behavior in leadership factors is an important variable. The leadership behavior focuses on the interaction between coaches and player, emphasizes the influence of leaders in the use of ideas, traits or leadership strategies, develops members' potential by changing their values and beliefs, and improves members' commitment to organizational goals by giving them care and encouragement. As a result, the transformational leadership behavior may be more conducive to promoting individual involvement in the role, enhancing the training and competition satisfaction and improving team cohesion.Based on this hypothesis and the current situation of fewer former related research, this study focuses on exploring the impact of transformational leadership behavior perceived by players on team cohesion, revealing how the players' role involvement, training and competition satisfaction plays a role between the transformational leadership behavior and team cohesion,so as to provide the basis for improving the coaching philosophy of Chinese coaches and promoting team cohesion.Research Methods:The questionnaire method was mainly adopted in this study. The surveys were conducted by selecting the “Questionnaire on Transformational Leadership Behavior Perceived by Player” revised by Li Qiang(2010),the “Questionnaire on players' Role Involvement” revised by Zhang Ying(2006),the “Questionnaire on Group Environment” revised by Ma Hong yu(2004)and the “Training and Competition Satisfaction Scale” revised by Zhang Li wei.(2002).The reliability and structural validity of all scales in this study were good. The questionnaire survey was conducted among basketball, football and volleyball players of National Level II and above from three sports colleges in the Northeast area.A total of 277 valid questionnaires were collected.Conclusion:(1)The volleyball players are better than football players in the personalized care dimension, and the remaining dimensions are not significant. The volleyball players are better than the football players in the group task consistency dimension and the rest of dimensions are not significant. The group cohesion and transformational leadership behavior of players of different sports grades are not significant.(2)The transformative leadership behavior perceived by players is closely related to team cohesion, player's role input and training competition satisfaction, which is an important factor of team cohesion, players 's role input and training competition satisfaction, among which the impact on players ' role input is the greatest, and leadership charm and vision motivation are important predictive variables.(3)The transformational leadership behavior perceived by athletes can directly affect the team cohesion. At the same time,it can also directly affect the team cohesion through the multiple mediating effect of players' role involvement, training and competition satisfaction, which further verifies the sports team cohesion theory model proposed by Carron, revealing the important position and value of the transformational leadership behavior perceived by players to the development of individual players and team cohesion. |
