Studying On News Representation In The Semiotic Perspective

News representation is the act,relationship and result of the interaction between the object news facts,human conceptual system and symbols.The rapid development of media technology has posed many new challenges for news representation.What are the changes in the subjects of news representations,how do the subjects of news representations transfer meaning among themselves,what kind of subject relations are constructed in news representations,what are the new tendencies in the deeper thinking mechanisms of news representations,and whether new theories and perspectives are urgently needed to effectively explain and respond to these challenges.The study of news representation in semiotic perspective is an attempt to meet this challenge.The research idea of news representation in semiotic perspective is embodied in two threads: one is that symbols,interpretative items of symbols,interpretative items as ideas,interpretative items as individuals,and interpretative items as groups drive symbols in mediated social news representation;the other is that symbols flow under the action of interpretative items,symbols flow and coalesce to form frames,there is a game between frames,and frames operate on metaphors Metaphors form individual representations,and individual representations lead to social representations.The second clue is based on the first clue,which explores the value and operation of symbols in news representations,focusing on the classification and operation of the explanatory terms in Peirce’s ―three divisions‖of symbols,and identifying the real problems in news representations in greater depth.We also discuss the evolution of news representations in individuals and societies based on symbolic flows,frame games,and metaphorical flourishing.It is found that the flow of symbols fundamentally lies in the interpretation term,and the interpretation term of symbols in mediated society mainly drives the fluidity of news representations from emotional interpretation term,behavioral interpretation term and logical interpretation term.The accumulation and coalescence of symbols form cognitive frames,and there are different frames and frame games among news release subjects,news receiving subjects,news parties,news platform subjects and other subjects in mediated society.The operation of framing drives the flow of representation,and the deep operation behind it is metaphor and metonymy.The strengthening of symbolic adjacency has led to the flourishing of metaphor.The multi-subject expression,the diversity of connections and the pursuit of emotionality in the mediated society have made the adjacency of news expression go beyond the similarity of traditional metaphor,and metaphor has occurred and flourished.The innovations of the study include: the construction of a symbolic operation path with the explanatory term as the driving force,the formation of a research object with symbols,ideas,individuals and groups as explanatory terms;the construction of a research perspective in which the carrier of news representation is a symbol,the flow and cohesion of news symbols form a framework,and the framework uses metaphors and metonymy in the process of operation;the adoption of theories and methods of semiotics and hermeneutics to explore the construction of a mediated The study employs semiotic and hermeneutic theories and methods to explore the symbolic operation of social news representations and to explain a series of issues related to the issuing and receiving subjects of representations,providing a new approach to understanding the news operation mechanism of society.A series of ideas are proposed in the study,especially ―metaphorical metonymy is the mechanism of news representation,and news representation in mediated society presents metonymic advantage‖ and ―social representation is the home of news representation‖,which have certain originality.In conclusion,the representational framework constructed by the study of news representation in semiotic perspective shows the current news ecology more fully,and the constructed semiotic process of news representation in mediated society can effectively explain the basic operation of current news representation.The study explores the problem of news representation in mediated society from the cognitive level,and explores the subject and boundary of news semiotics from the level of semiotic process,which provides a new opportunity to study news theory in semiotic perspective.
