A flow units is a combination of lithological units with similar hydraulic features. Using this concept, the heterogeneity of a reservoir can be depicted subtly.At present,study on reservoir flow units is a hot spot and difficult thing in fine reservoir description.Based on the case of palogue oil-field of 3/7 area of sudan,the characteristics,distribution and application of reservoir flow units of fluvial facies have been study in detail by application the mothod of multi-discipline intergrity.In the dissertation,first analyze the gological features of palogue oil-field,then research the theoretic base of reservoir flow units in detail,including the relative concepts of flow units in clastic rock,the hierarchy structure,the features of flow units and so on.Finally,we focuses on the flow units research methods and their common problems.Secondly, Many problems are encountered during the development reservoir. Most of them are due to the reservoir heterogeneity. The authors present a novel methodology of flow unit definition in reservoir aimed to improve the reservoir description. First,sublayer and sand group are divided by using highly accuracy sequence stratigraphy,and then through the division and correlation of the interlayer to determine the single sand.As flow units have a close correspondence with sedimentary facies,we can study microfacies on the basis of single sand to determine the distribution of sand .In the last,Based on the definition of flow unit and its geological meanings, and combined with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the cored wells, five parameters—porosity, permeability, vsh, FZI and RQI are integrated into the classification of flow units. Further, the flow barriers has been recognized by means of method of reservoir hierarchy analysis. And by use of cluster and regression analyses, a quantitative mode of flow unit definition in un-cored wells has been developed, and also, four types of flow units have been recognized.Thirdly,on the basis of comprehensive geology study,utilizing software Petrel to establish structure model and sedimentary microfacie model. Models of 3D flow unit are set up by using sequential indicator stochastic simulation method based on sedimentary model,structure model and combining logging interpretation result.we get porosity model and the permeability model by using flow unit model as restrict variable.In the last, the spatial distribution of flow unit in the palogue oilfield are almost understand.Finally, we find the flow units have an impact on oil well production through the relationship between the flow unit and oil well production index. This find have significant meaning to oilfield exploration and development,improving exploration success ratio and recovery factor.
