As a basic physical unit, Time has come into being for a long time. And with the development of society and improvement of science and technology, high precise time is requested. And higher precise time is needed for the constructions of national economy and national defence as well as many engineering applications. Due to the development of GPS, it is possible to get high precise time using the high precise atomic clock in the satellite. Based on this theory, this thesis try to discuss time transfer and get high precise time with the help of GPS receiver. On the other side, with the development of ours satellite position system, this thesis provides reference in time transfer for our satellite position system. This thesis presents the theory and methods on timing by using the GPS receiver. And some problems on the establishment of error model and the algorithm of time transfer are also studied. First, the definition and status of time transfer is introduced and some problems on time transfer, which need to be solved, are discussed. Then the research progresses in recent years are analyzed. And finally, the necessity of algorithm of time transfer is presented to us.Before the algorithm of time transfer is discussed, it is necessary that the theory and model for timing, which is the basic and key process for time transfer, should be introduced, and the errors that influence the precise of timing are also analyzed. Furthermore, the correction models and ways for reducing the error are also built for all kinds of errors. In virtue of the characteristic of time transfer by using GPS receiver, the definition and basic theory of pulse per second are introduced, and application in time transfer by using GPS receiver also discussed. At last, because the clock data is needed by studying the algorithm of time transfer, the format of clock data which is provided by the IGS is introduced. In order to forecast the clock bias in the next second, the models which analyze the clock data using time series are built and discussed in this thesis. Three models are built, which are orthogonal polynomial model, AR model and kalman filtering model. Their respective theory and the process to build the model are analyzed, the way to solve the coefficient of model using the clock data by the IGS are also discussed. At last, the comparisons among those models and application fields for each model are also analyzed. Finally, according to the application of one satellite time transfer by using Kalman filtering model, it calculates the clock bias by using the ephemeris data which are provided by the IGS, and then use these data to do some research using kalman filtering model. At last, the whole research work has been summarized, and the next work is also showed.
