In the universe, human occupies dominance. The human brain doesn't be given a cold shoulder to it, because of its function of controlling human doing and thinking. Recently more and more researchers put themselves in the study of brain. In the future, the basic research results may be applied to the person's life, such as artificial intelligence.Factor analysis is a statistical analysis method. It is to summarize one or some public factors from many variables. We can explain it simply, that is to search out some important common resource from a lot of complex information. The study analyses EEG data by using factor analysis to look for public factor in different area of brain electrode, and summarize the rules of these public factors.Subjects were 22 right-handed healthy university males with known calculation difficulties. All subjects did never take part in the EEG trial before and are college students. Subjects were asked to do mental arithmetic twice independently. Numbers were selected during 1 to 10 randomly and the total number is 20. Every two numbers were given respectively; the time interval of them is 3s or 2s. Subjects did additions for the given numbers. The time interval is shortened to observe all areas of brain change by increasing the work load of subjects. Three people were excluded because his performance accuracy was below 50%.11 subjects gave two right answers.9 subjects gave a right answer. The average age of subjects is about 22. Before the beginning of the trial, all subjects were informed the experimental contents, and we obtained the permission of subjects. The research shows that the temporal and occipital of brain takes part in mental arithmetic. When the working intensity was increased, we found increased involvement of the temporal and occipital of left hemisphere specifically in males, who giving two right answers. At the same time, the load in the temporal and occipital of right hemisphere decreased. But the change rate of occipital is not better than the temporal. What's more, the study shows the number of public factor depends on the subjects themselves, the area of brain, experimental events and so on.
