Research On The Lettering Configuration And Expression In Virtual Geographic Environment

Lettering is an indispensable part of the map, it has not received more attention in the virtual geographical environment. In virtual geographic environment, the lettering is the expression of three-dimensional environment, and become more complex compared with two-dimensional environment, many representation method and configuration rules of lettering will not apply the contents of the two-dimensional map. This article reviewed the relevant paper, studied lettering's configuration combined with the characteristics of virtual geographical environment. Discussed the note expression of virtual geographical environment in three main points: In what position that shows, what sort of style and how.1. Gave an analysis of the domestic and international cartographic research, and explored the concept and characteristics of virtual geographical environment, summarized lettering design factors in virtual geographical environment, analysed basic design theory of the lettering in virtual geographic environment from the map symbol, map experience theory, and map aesthetic theory.2. Summarizes the basic theory by the application of virtual geographical environment design principles in the lettering, lettering on design principles and in accordance with the geographical environment on the virtual note design, design a virtual geographical environment variables in the visual lettering, introduced the style of the lettering that different methods and analysis lettering the advantages and disadvantages of various representations to construct a virtual geographical environment in the design of the table lettering.3.
