The Chinese species of Tachinus (s. str.) silphaeformis and T. (s. str.) laevicollis species-groups of the genus Tachinus are studied. Twenty two species are recognized, of which 17 are described here as new: T. armatus sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. articulatus sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. hercules sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. hilarlus sp. nov. (Shaanxi), T. linzhiensis sp. nov. (Tibet), T. maderiarus sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. mengdaensis sp. nov. (Qinghai), T. naiduilaensis sp. nov. (Tibet), T. parahercules sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. parahilarus sp. nov. (Niangxia & Qinghai), T. paralinzhiensis sp. nov. (Tibet), T. paralohsei sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. teroelytrus sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. zhujianqingi sp. nov. (Tibet), T. yini sp. nov. (Sichuan), T. hanmiensis sp. nov. (Tibet) and T. lundingensis sp. nov. (Sichuan); and two are recorded from China for the first time: T. alesi Schülke, 2005 and T. laevicollis Scheerpeltz, 1965. Illustrations of the male and female habitus, diagnostic characters and distributional map of each species are provided. Keys to the species of each species-group are presented.
