Groundwater is an important source of water supply of city, agriculture and industry in China. There are about 2/3 cities and part of corpland use groundwater as main water supply source and irrigation water. The excessive exploit of groundwater will trigger a series of geological environment problems, and directly affect the harmonious development of man and nature.Shanhua Coal Chemical Industry CO LTD is located in Guapo town, Hua county, Shanxi, is a large industrial and mining enterprise in Shanxi province. In order to meet the water demand of energy conservation technological transformation project, the company is about to build a well field at Weisan village which is on the first terrace of Wei river between Yuxian river and Shidi river, the riverside well field exploit 5 million m3 of water per year. There is thick unconsolidatedformation in the well fiel which is about to build, the unconsolidatedformation provides a nice storage for groundwater. Based on the deep analysis of the hydrogeologic condition in the researched area, I build the 3D numerical model of the groundwater there using Visual MODFLOW, then accoding to the comparation of exploitation programs, the most rational program is confirmed. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) According to the deep analysis of the hydrogeologic condition in the researched area, the floodplain of inner Wei river is highly water-enriched region, the mid and fore sections of first terrace of Wei river is medium water-enriched rigion, the back of first terrace of Wei river is weak water-enriched region.(2) According to the calculation of water balance, the total increment of groundwater in the researched area is 76378.93 m3/d, the total displacement is 73790.23 m3/d, the equilibrium differential is 2588.7 m3/d, is in slightly positive equilibrium.(3) Build the 3D numerical model of the groundwater there using Visual MODFLOW. Based on long-term observation data of groundwater from Jan 2010 to Dec 2010 and the groundwatet data in Nov 2010,I re-check and test the model, and finally confirm the model parameter zones and parameter values of each zone.(4) In order to meet the demand of 5 million m3 water per year, there are two expoitation programs:linear type and quincunx type of well deployment. After comparation, the linear type is superior to the quincunx type.(5) According to the recommended program, the newly increased exploitation is mainly from supply increment of Wei river, crossrange runoff supply increment and evaporation-draining decrement. Using this program, the groundwater level in researched area decline depth is within 1.5m except the funnel center, which has basically no influence to local eco-environment. The supply increment which is deprived by water source expoitation in the dry season is only 0.9% of the whole annual runoff amount of Wei river at Hua county cross section, is not going to threat the ecology downsteam. So no matter from mining dynamic, water drawdown, the influencen scope of exploit funnelm, or the environmental geology aspects, the program is feasible.
