With the rapid development of modern operating technique and material science and the requirement for the construction of the city, more and more tall buildings appeared. They are higher, lighter and more flexible. As a consequence, the sensitivity of these tall buildings to the wind load has increased, and the wind load is becoming the control load of the structure. The dynamic effects of the wind and the control of the vibration response of the tall buildings have gradually become the main issue to the tall buildings. The Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) fixed in the structure has obtained more and more attentions because of its convenient installation and excellent control effect. And more and more TMDs have been used in the real structures. The wind-induced vibration of structures is mainly caused by the fluctuating wind component, is usually modeled as a stationary random excitation. To simplify the calculation of random response, the model of the building structure is usually simplified. For example, the building structure is often assumed to be one-dimensional model and avoid the use of high-degree of freedom finite element model, assuming the bending and torsional vibration mode shapes are not mutually coupled; only a few modes in mode superposition, and ignore the vibration mode correlation between items, and so on. On the other hand, the structure will lose its damping orthogonal property, which is fixed by TMD. The equation of motion can not be uncoupled, which maybe cause many troubles in the operation for structure vibration by the frequency-domain method. In this paper, the stationary random wind-induced response of tall building, human comfort problem and the sensitivity analysis for the control of structure vibration with TMD is studied systematically, which include:1 According to the Davenport wind spectrum, the power spectrum of the wind is generated, which is more convenient for frequency domain analysis. And the wind-induced vibration response is achieved by the program based PEM.2 The human comfort in the building is discussed, which will lose its damping orthogonal property after fixed the TMD. Transforming the random load into a series of simple harmonic loads using PEM, the expression of the random response is derived by the mode superposition method. 3 The sensitivity analysis for the control of structure vibration based the standard of human comfort. The sensitivity analysis of stochastic vibration response is mainly difficult based on conventional methods. In this thesis, an accurate and efficient sensitivity analysis formula for optimizing the human comfort of the structure-TMD system is derived by PEM.
