Hermanniellidae is a special family of Oribatida with developed opisthonotal gland and their large tube-like openings projecting on the sides of the hysterosoma. It occurs cosmopolitely and lives in decaying organic matter. Hermanniellidae is a kind of panphytophages mites.Up to 2010,53 species in 9 genera have been described all over the world. The Chinese fauna of these groups is lack of comprehensive studies. Before present study,5 species in 1 genus from China were reported, and most of them were mentioned in non-taxonomic references, among which there is no type material collected from China. In order to clarify the Hermannniellidae fauna of China, a taxonomic study on Chinese. Hermanniellidae were given in this thesis. In the part of general account, the research history and taxonomic systems of Hermanniellidae were outlined. The comparative morphological characters were summarized. Also, the biology was introduced, including reproduction and development, ecological habit. In the part of taxonomic account, with checking over 600 specimens collected from China,14 species in 2 genera were identified, including 8 new species,1 newly recorded genus and 1 newly recorded species to China. Thus, the known taxa of Chinese Hermanniellidae has been increased from 5 species in 1 genera in 2009 to 14 species in 2 genera until now.In this study, the 14 identified species were decsribed and illustrated, including 7-12 figures and measurements of 6-8 morphological characters for each species. The keys to genera and species were provided.
